  1. Think there is a lot of over reaction, we went from 0-0 to 3-0 down in 2 min 50 sec. No manager can make any changes that quick. We had a blip of a game, well half a game, it's over, fortunately in hindsight made no difference. Now let's learn from it and then forget it, we need confidence back for the final.....
  2. Oh well, hopefully that's all the mistakes out before the final, it's a kick up the backside that we aren't brilliant and need to focus, and hopefully Spurs will do the business over Hull for us.
  3. yeah I agree with this too, we have Gardner coming back and Kozak from injury so squad doesn't look too badI really don't understand these comments, we are starting to look really improved under Tim and we should avoid relegation but thinking we don't need much more is false in my opinion. Another season where we've been too close to relegation and yes Lambert should take a big blame for that but we must remember it's still the same players and still now we are only 2 points above relegation. I don't think we need an overhaul but we certainly need some new players to come in and players to go. We need more quality if we want to be a top 10 team on a really basis in my opinion. I think we need to draw a line under what Lambert was getting out of these players and look to see what Sherwood is getting out of them. Our form at present is easily top 10 and I think the quality of our squad is as well. Lambert, for all his faults, and there were many, assembled a good squad. It just needed another manager to get the best out of them. fair point re lambert but I'm not convinced our squad is top 10. Our form at the moment is great and making us look like top 10 but this is over a short period. Over a full season we will have dips of form etc and I'm just saying some more options and replacement of some current players would make us a top 10 team over a course of a season and not just a short period like we are in now.

  5. i would sacrifice any chance of a future threesome however remote the chances are..........................ermmmmm......................hang on......................................nah forget that, I said nothing
  6. Has to turn that display in more frequently and not once a season.....he's proved he can do it, now do it more consistently
  7. must have missed it but he was ok nothing special, he puts in a shift and quality is average at this level
  8. Has to be my favourite player at the moment. I have no idea how he's turned it around at Villa but massive respect to him. First name on the team sheet at the moment.
  9. I agree with this. Benteke has struggled to return to form and without him we have precious few goals in the team. Keeping Vlaar fit is the other key in my opinion - he made the difference on Sunday and will be important if we employ a more expansive style which leaves us more exposed at the back. I expect Cissoko and Hutton to be a little more withdrawn but that midfield will push on Stoke game is massive - win a we have momentum, lose and I could see all the positivity drain away i'm not seeing Stoke as massive as I think we have proved that we can beat the bigger teams and lose badly to lower teams. I also don't want to put pressure solely on one game. We have 13 games, however we get those points we just need to get them. The more we put pressure on the next game the more likely we'll screw up and things get more nervous and agitated. Stoke for me is the next opportunity to get points of course, let's do our best and if we win great, if we lose we still have 12 more games.

    Living Wage

disagree 1) long gone are the days that clubs are part of the community 2) this PR would be short benefit if any at all 3) cost isn't trivial though, it mounts up and if you add that cost to concessions then fans will be complaining of the cost going to the game again Pay what the market dictates and is legal, no more, no less 1) You're right. Let's **** off the local charity work they do - pointless. 2) PR is irrelevant. 3) Cost is trivial in the amounts you're talking about, for a Premier League football club, who is basically being handed more free money. Paying what the market dictates may well be legal, but how about we do our bit for those who help our club in a time when we quite clearly and obviously can afford to do so? Views like this honestly wind me up. Football, first and foremost, is a sport. It's disgusting enough without having people actively go against giving the catering staff an extra couple of quid per matchday. Signed. this is where this kind of post winds me up...people who help out club? No it's a job, which the individual has agreed to do. Are they anything special, no! Some of their attitudes are great, some average, some not great. Not sure why they should get more money! If they do well in their jobs they are likely to get promoted, if they are nice to customers then might get a tip. I find it bizarre that we should pay more than market for that kind of role(s). Rather give money to deserving charities that need help

    Living Wage

But you're still using examples of listed companies with shareholders whose main aim is to return value to their shareholders. Aston Villa football club do not need to do that. If an average footballer, let's say Matt Lowton, gets another 10K p/w in his wage packet because of an enhanced TV deal, but the bloke selling chips can't be given an extra £1 or so per hour then the modern game is more rotten than I thought. Yeah but you're bringing matt lowton in to an argument when in reality you should be saying a chip seller at McDonald's earns minimum wage, a chip seller at Burger King earns minimum wage, a chip seller at KFC earns minimum wage, a chip seller at St. Andrews earns minimum wage, a chip seller at villa park earns minimum wage What matt lowton earns is irrelevant I fail to see a good argument as to why villa should pay their chip sellers more than anyone else How are you still not getting this? Some of those organisations are different from the others. Why are they different? HINT: It has something to do with fiduciary duty to shareholders. This move would obviously be right, 1) because the football club is a part of the community, and offering a decent wage to the staff who actually come from the community is a valuable way of giving something back, 2) because it would be excellent PR and there's no reason not to take advantage of that, and 3) the cost would be trivial, and easily covered by adding 5p onto the price of concessions sold. Consider this petition signed. disagree 1) long gone are the days that clubs are part of the community 2) this PR would be short benefit if any at all 3) cost isn't trivial though, it mounts up and if you add that cost to concessions then fans will be complaining of the cost going to the game again Pay what the market dictates and is legal, no more, no less
  12. Yeah I like the guy, not brilliant but for me he's one of our better midfielders. Had a shocker today, but given the way he plays when he has a bad game it would be noticed.

    Living Wage

I'm with V4E why should we pay more than anybody else. Market forces dictate how much we pay chip sellers, why should people on the breadline get preferential treatment over anybody else...should a person who gets £1 more than the living wage get slightly more as well, what about £2 more......
  14. i didn't think Sherwood was the right appointment but obviously Fox does and for some reason I have some blind faith in Fox
  15. Sun says Sherwoods assistant would be Hoddle
  16. Yeah need some inside info, I mean the press know only slightly more than we do as proved by Lambert being sacked as they didn't believe it was going to happen either until it did.
  17. I can't believe with everything Fox wants to do that he would hire Sherwood. The interview must just be one of many conversations he's having with various potentials, covering all his bases.
  18. What a totally uninspiring appointment Sherwood would be, hopefully interviewing a few people and Sherwood is just first and will be looked over eventually. I'm not expecting anything special but Sherwood? A man with less than six months managerial experience in our time of need.....no thanks
  19. I think Fox is too clever to pick Sherwood. I think that's just media guessing
  20. Throwing a new hat in the ring....Lee Clark. Think about it, prior bluenose manager, win rate under 30% and ex footballer, sounds like Lerners perfect man. We just need somebody to send him a letter
  21. I think the opposite from his post match interview.....I still think he believes this is just glitch and everything will be ok
  22. Anybody seen post match interview yet? Just watched it and thought finally he's going to have to be (or even look downhearted) but no he's the same, we have to keep going, we have to keep fighting, we were in the game, had good possession and got into the right areas but just couldn't finished it off. OK I'm not sure what he is supposed to say, it's just it looks like he thinks we don't have a real problem or going the same way and we'll be all right.....that's what is getting to me now HAS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Match Thread

Why would he? he's unlikely to get another job at this level after this job given what has happened. We have to fired him!!!!!
  24. If this was the entire problem we wouldn't have the worst goal difference in the league. Yes scoring goals has been a massive problem but not the only problem. We have conceded our fair share of poor goals as well. but until the arsenal game we had the 5th strongest defence, so for half a season we were really good.
  25. not if we are in the championship it wont
