So for the final time this window can I just say how much I'm looking forward to tomorrow as it's................ WEDNESDAY!!!!!

That just seems a waste of the corners with the big screen and executive boxes. Surely a screen could be incorporated into the north stand roof like some of newer stadiums around the world and a better design for executive boxes, maybe second row in the main north stand. That would leave more room for seats and maybe an extra 2000 seats or so.

For me we really need another striker so I hope (if we do sign) benhrama isn’t the last signing.

I know some big names have been mentioned but I don’t think that was the rumour. It was a mystery striker who would cost a lot of money and break our transfer record. People have then come to the conclusion that for that money it has to be a big named striker and floated names about. We have also been interested in players like Leao and our club people have watched many players and fans have put 2 and 2 together and probably got 5. i would be surprised if we aren’t after another striker, it makes sense, it aligns with everything we have done this transfer window around building the squad. We look short in that area and would be a shame not to round out the squad for such an important season for us with a player that could make the difference. i would hope we get another striker in, I don’t believe it will a big name like the names you mention but it still could be a player that could break our transfer record given the inflated transfer prices.

I love this, he's basically saying it's his spot in the team and making it hard for Dean to drop him. You just cant argue with his set pieces. Dean has a really hard job this season picking the team season.....it's a great problem with all the choices but Conor is definitely staking his claim for a first team spot.

Have to say I really like him and think he will be a regular this season, I just like the way he plays and i'm impressed how he keeps getting better through calendar year 2019

Liked what he did going forward today, could see potential. I think the coaching team will need to help him with the defensive side. Definitely a step up from Taylor though.

Wasnt convinced earlier in the transfer window which I said on this forum but did more research and began to like him. Incredibly impressed with him today, will be a steal if he keeps this up. Not only his saves, but his kicking and command of the box was mightily impressive today.

Why? He’s done his job (almost). Look at the players brought in, I don’t think I’ve read bad comments about any of our signings. Not about the character of the player, the cost of the player or anything. Reading where the player has come from, most of those fans have been disappointed to lose the player. i mean it’s all great in hindsight in 2 years time when these players have played and some are good and some are bad but unfortunately we can’t see the future. Based on what has been brought he’s done a great great job. I know he’ll only be judged if they are successful but it’s crazy as I don’t think any of us can argue with what he’s done this window has been exceptional.....I just want my extra striker please

Obviously people have already commented about the rumours above but I would also add that it makes sense. Look at our squad post signing Heaton and soon to be Marvelous, our squad is short on a another quality striker. We’ve smashed it with every position having two quality options except that direct, central, forward player. I would say striker but others would argue about our set up so for me we have all those supporting positions covered up front but that central, forward player we only have Wesley. Behind that we have Kodja, Hogan, Davis and RHM, which is fairly weak compared to how our business has been conducted with the rest of the team. so added to the rumours of mystery striker, smashing our transfer record again, the way we have done business this summer and the need for another striker.....it makes sense. It could just be hopeful wish that we want to come true.

But you missed out my reasoning why I thought that. They are a massive pull as you rightly suggest but not like the old days....there are more than 2 clubs that I would join before them including man city, lpool, Spurs and a couple more. Man U are going through change again, which is number what in recent years? since fergie left and their squad is weak, they aren’t in CL and their star player is likely to leave and doesn’t look like any star players are coming through the door. While it’s still a yes to join, I assume it’s not the wow or anywhere near it used to be.

But he’s not working out. He still has value now that somebody would pay more because of his age and he has some first team experience. In a couple of years when that regular first team football hasn’t been for a couple of years he’ll probably be let go at the end of his contract. Sell now and spend that on another young kid that has potential.

Or he is being shopped. People forgot about him and then see him in our preseason games and remember him.

but while he looks quite good on a lot of other things he never looks like he’s going to score. Not only if given a goal scoring chance but he doesn’t ever seem to be in goal scoring places. As I’ve said he’s got some good other attributes but I don’t think they are enough, even non-prolific strikers bag a decent bunch of goals and he doesn’t do that. Argument is that he young but I just can’t see that part in his game even in something that can be developed.

And Man U just doesn’t seem the big pull these days. Yes they are much bigger club than us, yes richest in the world but they aren’t in a good place in terms progress. Disappointing squad for them, not much excitement around the place, 32 points off the league title last season (and bizarrely 32 points above relegation), no champions league football and their apparent star player in Pogba might be leaving. I don’t like our players leaving but if they do and I want them to do well then I hope it’s to a club on the up or at the peak and not to a team fumbling around.

Never doubting his ability obviously just couldn’t see players we are buying being brought in to sit on the bench hence the question. Obviously different formations have different players fitting and without doubt SJM was in a lot of those formations but buying so many midfielders it was just a question whether he might miss out. Today just showed (ok only a friendly) what a talent he is and he maybe even better knowing the talent sitting on the bench waiting to take his place. Looking forward to a great season ahead.
