  1. I think also because Spurs generally hold a high line defensively which I noticed a bit last season in the few games I saw on tv. we actually scored today because of that. Trez almost got in as well because of that but a fine defensive tackle by Winks on the half way saved Spurs. I’m not a massive fan of Kodja but break away attacks/counter attacks or one on ones, he’s better at than Davis obviously so maybe that was Deans thinking.
  2. To be fair we brought on Kodja, they brought on Eriksen. It shows the difference between the teams....a player that is attracting interest from Real Madrid against at best a second choice striker. We are new to the league they are a top team.
  3. I think generally people are judging many players from the game based on 1 game, 1st game back at this level, their 1st game at this level, 1st competitive game at this level....all against a team that were at home and were in the champions league final last season.....
  4. Wasn’t great, wasn’t poor....first game at this level and we didn’t have the ball in their half much, I think people are being harsh. Think he’s going to be a good player in this team. 5. Always going to be hard against Spurs We dwell on the ball too long and still think we are playing in the championship Mings, Engels and Heaton were superstars Deflated at the end but 3-1 was a fairer reflection of the game. Going to be a hard season and we need to review this match and fix silly errors, dwelling on the ball and improve retaining the ball. Might have been good playing spurs first and they showed the players how hard it’s going to be. Our season isn’t going to be based on games away at the likes of Spurs, it’s the games like next week at home. Onwards and upwards.

Really liked the Heskey but how the heck did his luck survive to have such a good career, it just baffles me. Some players you just at and think how are you making a consistent top end appearance in football.

Not even going to argue this as you are comparing apples and pears. I watched Owen from when he broke onto the scene......it’s not even a comparable, you could see the pure talent in Owen and that the natural scoring was there and he debuted for England just when he turned 18.

There is always 1 success story and 1 million failures although I would argue that Man City had paid 44m for this player you mention in 2015, that’s a bit different to a 2019 value of Davis. It’s a fair point you raise though, I don’t agree but I take your point. We have nothing to lose as he’s our player and we don’t have many options in that position after Wes.

The only problem with that is I believe that is less about coaching and more natural instinct. The game is so fast at premier league level that natural instinct gets you into the right positions otherwise more players would be strikers. For me there is a reason a scoring striker is that way, they just always seem to be in the right place. You can coach certain plays so Davis knows where the ball is going to be in certain plays or set pieces but being in the right place at the right time is instinct for anything else....that's why goal scoring midfielders and strikers are at such a premium. For me, the use of Davis, if we have to, is as people have said....play up to Davis and midfielders run off him to score.
  10. Yeah I think Conor and El Ghazi start tomorrow in that line up based on the other CDMs just come in and I think El Ghazi deserves the start.

That’s my worry! It’s a much harder league, we’ll have less time in the oppositions half, then it’ll be harder to create chances so the chances we do create we need to have a better goal scoring ratio. I think we’ll be fine but after Wes, I do worry with our striker options and this places a large burden on other areas to score more, which is fine.

My issue is generally he doesn’t get into positions to score, which added to the fact that when he does he looks like he will miss....to me he doesn’t look like he has potential in that area of his game, which is a massive problem. Even hold up players score goals even if low amounts. The question is if he other part of the games is sufficient enough to compensate for lack of goals over his career. I really don’t think so and would’ve been ok with letting him going out on loan or if a decent offer, being sold. Dean Smith seems to disagree and he’s the boss so in him I trust (plus I have no choice ).
  13. I’m always wrong so I’m going to predict we aren’t signing anybody else in this window 5 mins to go, prove me wrong
  14. Thanks Thor for your time at the club.
  15. Wow I knew he wasn’t going to be first XI but this is dramatic.
  16. Surprised the player hasnt pushed for the move...a chance to move to the PL and no boyhood loyalty to Brentford
  17. Only time SJM has stopped running during preseason
  18. Why am I nervous! I really want tomorrow to go well. For me, priority is a striker and then Benrhama.....(I know everybody wants Benrhama including me but I also want another striker). i shouldn’t be nervous though as we’ve had a great window and even if nothing happens tomorrow we are still in great shape. But I am nervous Please please please......Striker and Benrhama. Done.....

Cracking potential on everything but getting into the right positions to score goals and if he does, he can’t put it in the net. Two key attributes for a striker. He doesn’t haven’t to be high scorer but needs to contribute in terms of goals and he doesn’t look like he has that potential. Needs to go on loan a couple of times and review in a year or two but if we got a good offer now to sell I’d snap their hands off because he doesnt have enough for a PL striker IMO.
  20. What happened to sports journalism, just nothing there really that any of us couldn’t have written. I know it’s hard in the modern age with information available everywhere but reading his work I sometimes feel I know this information before he does.
  21. I know.....depending on sources they were all somewhere between 10-15m, so midpoint is about 37.5m for all three......wow
