  1. All the things happening with other clubs makes me fearful for us.   Wigan get a win two weeks ago against Newcastle,  that, no way, should they have got, Chelsea doing their best to send us down losing to all our rivals but hammering us, and every time we build a little momentum, an international break seems to destroy it.  Sunderland sacking MON, no doubt they will have an upturn in form.  I was really happy after the QPR game but now, I have my black cloud overhead again :bang: .   I used to like Wigan but now I hate them and Chelsea.  They say luck seems to even out over the season, but I see no evidence of that with us!   Big crowd expected today - let's make it like the QPR atmosphere - or even better.  Please Villa, please we have to worry about ourselves, not rely on other teams.     As Tony Butler used to say, let's get the Prayer Mats out!

  2. I heard this on Talksport too.   The Professor was a specialist in football finances apparently.  It seemed desperate from listening to him.   They were saying that it looked worse for us than QPR (if we went down) becuase at least they have very very very rich owners.  They said that it will be almost an armageddon situation for whichever club went down!   It made me feel like the days when Shinawatra was at Man C and everyone on here was saying that Man C were done for - well that's how it seems for us and you can bet there's no rich Sheikh coming to bail us out.

  3. I'm definitely going to look to relocate At some point to Devon

The only downside I can see is the longer commute to B6

Yeah, but I believe that they have a supporters coach from Devon to Villa every home game ?  If so, a bit of a nap on the coach, listen to Ipod - what's not to like?

  4. I'm planning to leave Brum sometime in the next ten years , torn between Devon (I have one of my best friends living in Torbay), Worcester area - near family or Merseyside - no reason other than I love the Isle of Man and, apart from actually moving there itself, it's next best - 2 and a half hour quick sea trip on the catamaran from Liverpool for the odd weekend! PLUS you seem to get more for your money up there and I don't have much of that!

  5. I think we need to start playing set tunes from about 15/10 mins before kick off - this could then include Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie (not that I like that but I accept it is iconic to villa fans - I preferred Don't let it Die by Hurricane Smith personally) , then some other great Villa inspired tune and finally, walk out again to Paranoid.   Really liked that, can't understand why it changed.   However, as for it all being too loud, we can't hardly hear it in the Witton Upper!!! AND whilst we're at it, what's that awful row (cos can't make anything out in Witton Upper) that always seems to be played about 15 /20 mins or so before KO?  Need to get music sorted for rest of season.

  6. How can it be described as 'win win' if he leaves ?

Whilst true that we won't be able to hang on to him, and true that we will get good money  - way more than 15 million I would think  - it isn't win/win at all.

It is a sad commentary on where we are, where many Clubs are, and where football generally is, that after one year we are beneath him.

I know it has been said many times before but Sky and the PL should watch out, following the game is becoming utterley pointless.

The next generations of fans will be harder and harder to find.  I took my son for years and he couldn't care less now ' where's the point, every time we get anyone any good, they go'.

This, again, another nail in the coffin.    Villa will always now I fear just be a feeder club for the Sky Six.

  7. Yep, agree with that Guardian comment.    This just puts another nail in the coffin for me - I'm getting pretty hacked off with the whole thing really.  Villa will never, ever again win the league.   Sky and the Premier League have indeed ruined football.  To be fair to him Tom Ross always said that Sky would ruin football - he was right.

  8. Sorry, I've already thought about this and there's no way I will be able to stop myself - I nearly cried at the Everton game !  Maybe I will have to try taking some Rescue Remedy before the game!

  9. OK I presume this is the correct thread rather than start another.  Can anyone tell me why when I compile playlists on my ITunes that it seems to automatically sort them into Alphabetical Order by track title?  In some ways, I think this is quite quirky as it gives a good random order - but sometimes, I really really want one specific tune to follow another so I am putting a random letter in front so that it follow the one I want- however that then affects the title in the main library too - not just on the playlist?  I am guessing that there is some way I can stop it sorting in this way, I've had a look but can't seem to find anything?  Anyone know?  Thanks

  10. If we sell Bent to Stoke (or any other team we have yet to play again this season) we should insist on a clause that he can't play against us - cos you can just write the script that he will score the goals against us that might be the final nail in our coffin

  11. KHV pretty much summed it up then. The mis-management of this club has been catastrophic from the very moment Lerner bought the club and decided he could run it without football people high up behind the scenes.

It was a recipe for disaster and we have fallen into a gradual, but consistent, decline. The trouble is now we're stuck with a crap manager as well as this major problem with the owners and I can't see any way out of it. Relegation seems an inevitability now and we have sleep-walked into it.

The club is rotten to the core from top to bottom.

    and

What an unbelievably shit season of prolonged and deep lows and the odd high point. I now think we are going down, can't see any other outcome under the regime of Lerner. He has to ake immediate action to back the manager or else we are fecked.

I can only think he knows we are going down and sees it as the only solution, some cathartic clearance that will allow some Phoenix to rise from the ashes. But it don't work like that you clown Lerner. We will be behind clubs currently in this league and clubs that will be promoted this season and NEVER able to catch up.

Man is a tool. People calling for the managers head, you have the wrong target.

V & L and Richard sum up my feelings. Except, I think that it's all gone too sour now with Lambert , maybe he should stay but I just don't have the confidence in him any more - he is just so dour in his interviews - you wonder how he motivates the players and he has been the Manager presiding over the most embarrassing series of incidents I can recall - we have set so many lows and historically bad records this season. How many times have we totally collapsed in second halves of games - so maybe a new manager too- Martinez maybe? I am just so angry about the state of our beloved club at present.

  12. Some real over aggressive policing at the end too! Trying to push up back away from trouble flaring betwen rival fans - but there was no-where to go! Quite scary - I sort of pushed may way through and shot down the stairs to the area at the back of th stand.

  13. Saw on H & V that someone had taken their lad to see Villa and he had starting singing (to the tune of Pussycat Dolls):-

"Dontcha wish your striker was Ben-t-eke"

Surely that's got to be better than "oooh Christian Benteke" which EVERY team sings about one of their players?

  14. There are no positives to relegation

    None whatsoever

Agree with this 100%. Can't understand how anyone can think it would be good for us to go down - they are presumably working on the assumption that we will come straight back up - but I don't think we would. We could be down for years. WBA the only West Mids team in the Prem, getting all that extra money - they will leap ahead of us. Worst possible year to go down - so I bet we will :-(

  15. We really need to ramp up the pre-match atmosphere at VP - particularly at this game. We have the worst pre-match build up of any ground I've been to - pathetic. All we do is show the stupid Snickers advert over and over (last season it was Pot Noodle) - what's happened to Paranoid when we come out too? I've still got my flags from Blackburn home semi and one from UEFA Cup against CSKA Moscow with a date of 18.02.09 on it (how we have fallen since then)
