  1. This thread appears to be all the hope that we have left at the moment. If it is closed because the chairman & CEO makes it clear that he is staying then it will mark the end of our club as we know it as well as the end of this thread. Up until then, the odd story gives us hope when deep down I think many of us may feel there is none.
  2. And would they want to buy us or set their sights much higher? We can but hope but we have been let down so often it sounds much too good to be true.
  3. He may be the self proclaimed "Mr Aston Villa" but I would never associate him with the term "real Villa man". How about selling the club (as you suggest for the going rate) and giving the balance between what he paid for the shares and his profit on selling them to the club as a summer transfer window spending fund or on his death leaving the bulk of his estate to the club in trust as Jack Walker did? Sadly neither of these are going to happen either as he has no interest in buying respect from the men of the terraces for whom he has none.
  4. I wondered whether Ranson might be back. It seems things might just be hotting up now that we are 100 % safe from the drop. Make it happen someone!!
  5. He may get his money eventually but he's not getting any younger either Ian and I would have thought that he would want to hurry things up so he still has some time to spend it (or does he also plan to live forever)? No, I think they have thrown their hand in Stewiek2. However, I think it is Neville who is still in the game and I think he is just looking to secure the funds from a source other than the Comer Bros. to be able to call our chairman's bluff. Whether those extra funds are coming from "individuals whose wealth would be exceeded in English football only by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich" or they are new players who have just come to the table is less clear. But, I just hope something does happen soon and whether their manager is David, Alan, Martin, Sam or Sven, is something that I would be happy to leave in the hands of new owners but not in the hands of the present CEO!
  6. I wonder Ian, is someone making these decisions based on tablets of stone that are labelled "How to continue the destruction of AVFC" that were etched out from what remained of The Trinity Road Stand by the man himself after he had that pulled down and come with the instructions "only to be used following my death or upon my being incapacitated by my chosen sychophants"?
  7. That would be nice. But, some money would be a change from what has been the case since our chairman came onto the scene, as would some forward thinking that would point the club forwards rather than backwards. But, icklevillan as you suggest there seems to be no knight in shinning armour appearing over the horizon to rescue us.
  8. Point taken both, I just hope they gave us a mention before pointing him in the direction of their other client.
  9. I'm with Gringo on this, if the Comer deal is on the back burner or worse why are Rothschild not trying to get the cash into B6 rather than Liverplop? Or are we not their most important/attractive investment opportunity and/or their highest priority?
  10. Let's hope it is not a train coming in the other direction that will derail us! :winkold: Any news would be good news as long as its not the chairman confirming that he has changed his mind and is staying put.
  11. Outbyeaster said: Much the same as the current chairman then. Billy Comer said: And according to Ray Ranson as well, but the chairman will hear nothing of that!
  12. Have you been watching the chairman eating his lunch again Pablo? :winkold:
  13. And being paid for doing so Ginge? When do you think the lid might be blown off what is being hidden at B6 Ginge? The truth is out there...
  14. If he has, I wonder how he has Denis?
  15. I wonder how much that cost the club? I can't see why we would settle out of court in our current financial situation unless we did have something to hide.
  16. And now, the end is near; And so I face the final curtain.....
  17. There is a fifth Richard. 5. What an 82 year old CEO & Chairman thinks it is worth for him to sell up. answer = priceless!
  18. They must be looking to make a bid for us then. Yes, there is Tricella it is our chairman & CEO!
  19. It does not cost them anything Denis so they will do what they would need to do to sell the club and then charge the club for doing so in the expectation that it really is for sale. Whether the old man ever had any intention of selling to the consortium and whether he has any intention of selling if Rothschild do find a buyer is still open to question. He might have strung this bid a little further than he did the Ranson one for his own purposes and appointing Rothschild may just be another stunt that he sees as taking pressure off himself at no cost to himself. One thing is for sure, he really needs to go now for the sake of the future of the club. I think he knows that, but I think he will only go if it suits him to do so and at the present it seems that he has decided it does not (is he waiting for a last FA Cup appearance in the new royal box)?
  20. Blandy wrote: Very true, the club always foots the bill where he is concerned after all he is the self appointed Mr Aston Villa.
  21. It is a question of who we all believe and each of us are free to make a choice there. I tend to believe that the deal could have been done if hurdles had not been added at each and every opportunity. I also tend to see no reason to take the word of a proven liar and the people he has appointed at B6 above the consortium that are still the only option available for change and have yet to pull the plug.
  22. I think Mr Neville has told us it has started and I see no reason to doubt him myself.
  23. I think Shalke is the more likely Demitri. :winkold:
  24. Ian said: Could they have gone missing in the same way that so much cash has in the past and if so, might the cash and the shares be resting in the same place? :winkold:
  25. I think that Arkwright would take that as an insult B23avfc. :winkold:
