  1. Assuming any fee received would be used on a replacement (unlikely IMO) who would you replace Vlaar with for £6m that would join a club in our position for the wages we could offer? I wouldn't have been able to suggest Vlaar's name two summers ago before he signed even though I knew who he was - but the players are out there. We're still a PL club and can offer a big step up from the French or Dutch leagues. We're not that different to the club that Vlaar himself signed for, modest wages and fee. The club Vlaar signed for was admittedly in complete free fall on the pitch, but there was money there for a bit of a squad overhaul and the owner wasn't trying to bin the club off. 2012 Vlaar wouldn't join this club now IMO, and even he wouldn't be a like for like replacement for established captain 2014 Vlaar with 2 years of prem experience. The player might be out there but they probably wouldn't come here with all the uncertainty overshadowing everything.
  2. Guzan? Ah no, not great wording. I meant an obvious candidate to replace Vlaar. Yeah Guzan at CB, big Joey Bennett in net and Lambert at left back. Sorted.

  4. I had a naff LG microwave once. My nexus 4 was very good though...
  5. I think his inclusion in the squad is just a new tactic to try and trick Leicester into buying him.
  6. If they keep Pjanic and Benatia and Juve lose Pogba and Vidal they'd have to be strong favourites IMO. 7/2 at the minute.
  7. You'd have to get up preeeeety early in the morning to catch Owen Hargreaves out.
  8. Supposedly McGregor was on BBC breakfast defending "human cockfighting" *rolly eyes*. Did anyone see it?
  9. Lucas Moura is a £38m player and he didn't get a look in. If they appoint a coach with arse-elbow differentiation ability the squad choices might be a bit better.
  10. Who's talking about his journalistic abilities? This is the Ki thread and we're talking about why Lambert wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire let alone give him inside info on this transfer. Maybe it was his cheap shots and sudden bravery in the face of what he thought was an outgoing manager but maybe it was his awful opinion pieces.. and his relentless pointing... and face.
  11. Yeah Fury has improved markedly in almost every way since the first fight. He's gone from looking like 300lbs of shit in a 250lb bag to something approaching the shape of a boxer. His jab and shot selection also look a lot less like he's a being controlled by a button mashing 8 year old. I think going to train at Superpro seemed to actually get him focussed on training rather than being a celebrity. No chance I'm watching the conference though, they're always horribly stilted and cringeworthy unless either of the fighters are witty or amusing. They seem generate interest though so fair play.
  12. Yeah but giving an adjective a new, extra, opposite meaning makes the word obsolete.
  13. Well his name is Yacouba Sylla, Sylla, Sylla and he does **** love the Villa, Villa, Villa.
  14. I think it became an autoantonym, so it now literally means literally AND not literally.
  15. I'm with Ulver. How can we support a team when one of the players drinks alcohol?
  16. In or out of fight sell mode, Fury's voice is just excruciating.
  17. I don't really care if he is pro or anti Lambert. I just hate his shit opinions and his stupid face. Seriously: I wouldn't tell that face whether or not we were signing Ki Sung Yueng either.
  18. If they lose Yaya to PSG / Barca then their midfield will suddenly look a lot weaker for sure.
  19. They're about to sign Mangala who is like a Kompany clone and already have Fernando. I think they'll push Chelsea for the title.
  20. Arsenal look like they'll have Sanchez, Debuchy and Khedira in to improve them at least. They'll be fine IMO. Liverpool are 11/10 to finish top 4 and that seems like an awful bet to me.
  21. > Implying we wouldn't have been relegated without him last season No im not implying that. My interpretation of "he isn't our saviour by a long shot" was that you were implying his performances didn't save us from relegation last season. IMHO we would have been buried without him, I feel the stats strongly support that too. On the contrary, I think playing in such a poor defensive unit makes him look worse than he really is. Playing alongside competent CBs and behind a good DM in the World Cup allowed him to focus on his own game rather than having to cover for others' mistakes and meant he fulfilled his potential. Who knows, maybe next to Okore and behind... er... Cambiasso he might play like that next season.
  22. > Implying we didn't earn 7 TIMES the points per game with him in the team > Implying we kept a single clean sheet in the 7 games he missed > Implying we wouldn't have been relegated without him last season
  23. And that's not even taking into account his injury record, which is a bit spotty. I'm certain that neutrals don't rate him as highly as (some) Villa fans do. I'm going to remain positive that we'll be able to hang onto him. But that's so inaccurate it's not even worth reading How many times?! Did you not hear the man? Ron "appalling lack of pace" Vlaar is a transfer don't.
  24. Because they're both S**T! I give up. Wes Brown is to the Champions League what most of our current "successful" academy graduates are to the Premier League. Agreed. What Lambert needs is more players like Clark & Baker in the starting line up. That's why all of the academy graduates in the first XI are being linked with moves to clubs above us and all of the crappy bought players wouldn't be touched by a bargepole. In an ideal world we'd have Barca's academy (or even Southhampton's) and great players would just fall out of our arse. Unfortunately for whatever reason (not Lambert's fault) we haven't done so far. Hopefully, the team that won the NextGen will turn out great but lumping them in as soon as humanly possible doesn't seem like a prudent option to me.
