Yeah, I find the new tone "well we are ok with what we have" to be the most frightening. I do believe they may have convinced themselves of that. For me I have seen no evidence this team has the ability to turn things around. particularly in midfield. I hope to be wrong but the Newcastle game could be a new low for us. getting beat at home and then leaving the window with no signings would destroy the morale of the players, club and fans. I just do not see how our midfield can get better without new faces. I wish I could.

Dont know. The noises from the club at the start of the window were rather bullish. Lambert will be backed, Lambert himself saying he had money, Holman talking up some reinforcements coming. Then it changed, very rapidly and quickly towards mid month and it became mute until now we have noises about no signings at all. I do wonder what happened. I do not buy into this BS that we are somehow this secret agent club that conducts its business in private. We leak as much as anyone else. My hunch is all those leads, Stephens, Countinhio the French midfielder that signed for newcastle. All were real. They just took better offers or turned us down. I think the club were shocked with no backups. Hence the rabbit in the headlights look from everyone at the club.

Like a new Lambert signing possibly. Right now Gardner plays like a bloke trying to break into the Championship. Sorry but he has not yet showed he has that influence to compete in a premier league midfield. He has a nice occasional touch and deadball but cannot dominate his area of the park. Like many of our midfielders sadly.

If we stay up I think we will be in a decent spot financially. I have this horrible feeling though that we will go through this all over again next season. I fear we have become Wigan. Always in the mix to go down.
