I think Lambert is going to play a surprise. he has toyed with 4-2-4 / 4-2-2-2 before and I think he is going to do so again against newcastle -

I dont really like 4-4-2 either. But there are variants for two central strikers. It will be fascinating to see what Lambert plays this weekend. I have feeling he is planning a surprise formation of some kind.

May I say how amusing it is many Newcastle fans still cant get over us laughing at them relegating themselves at Villa Park? I would hope if/when we get relegated one day the opposing fans would have the common decency to laugh.

Annoyed he even played. let alone 90 minutes. Beating minnows like Scotland is something that can be offloaded to Lukaku. Happily he didnt get injured which is all that matters , sorry Belgian guy but I dont care about international football

Yeah. The great news is Lambert can rotate our entire front line if he needs to and still field a strong team. I do wonder if he is going to base one set of attacking options around Benteke and the other around Gabby. While they all play well together it is clear that Benteke and Weimann have a great reading of each other. It makes me think Lambert maybe on the lookout for a partner for gabby in some way.

harsh but yeah, I dont think it is going to work out. He is 23, if he was going to be a break out player he would be showing something by now. Sadly not gonna happen.

In pre season Lambert played 4-3-3, 4-4-2 and 4-2-4. It wouldnt surprise me if he went balls out 4-2-4 against some home opponents. He may start with Newcastle...

Personally I love what Gabby and Weimann do however I would like to see somebody in a more central role with a bit of flare who could also take corners and free kicks Tonev, Helenius, Gardner. Sylla maybe could all do a job there? But yeah I agree with you. I thought attacking mid field was the higher priority.
