  1. We almost deserve to go down with 'fans' like you. How is the guy who supports the manager (and clearly the team) not a fan? Fans have a right to complain, but if they don't exercise it then they're not real fans? That's a new one to me. True, because any 'fan' saying is quite CLEARLY a Villa supporter Because the over reaction is ludicrous and I find it laughable. If there is any game you can lose and just smile, shrug and move on it is a cup game. You always get to play next year. We move on and focus on transfers and the league.
  2. We almost deserve to go down with 'fans' like you. Classy!
  3. I happily and proudly support Lambert. I also laugh at the complete over reaction by the press and some fans. I hope Lambert has a grin on his face in the post match interview and takes the piss as well.
  4. LOL, the epic pity party around here if we lose is going to be entertaining.
  5. You are right, but this is football. The press, owners, managers and players are all worse behaved than my kids.
  6. I think part of what he(?) did was just lay out information that Lambert would happily volunteer if any of the lame arse journos who get to speak with him every week actually asked. For example would it be that hard for some journliast to ask about why we played our corners a certain way as HH answered easily and clearly? Or asking specifically if he agreed that we needed a certain kind of midfielder? How is that harmful? If the club wants to learn anything positive from HairyHands it is that we actually give a damn about the details of the game and are interested. It was foolish of him/her to leak lineups before games but aside from that I cant think of anything he said that Lambert/PF couldn't easily and clearly lay out publicly.
  7. Agreed. Did they really think Sheffield was going to change their tactics based on whether Kozak was injured or not?
  8. Underwhelming. Feels like a step backwards. I would sooner have another young player who is a bit of an unknown and can grow into the club and league. Anyway probably it wont matter, we are the last club Norwich will sell anybody to. In the case that is a good thing and we can move on to more attractive transfer targets.
  9. Ok thanks. Yeah I guess it fits. To be honest though even a happy clapper like myself has a hard time getting excited about this one. At least with the summer signings there was the whiff of the unknown and possibilities of youth. With this... well, feels like a step back somewhow.
  10. Hoolahan was a decent player, two years ago. Does he really offer anything these days? Am I really meant to get excited about us targeting a bench player at Norwich?
  11. Yes I have, and i still think he's a tool. And if we field a purposefully weak side tomorrow (and i'm not talking about Vlaar who's carrying a knock obviously) then i'd fire his useless arse So if we do what every other premier league team will do and play the kids/reserves, you think Lambert should get sacked?
  12. Shame he is gone. Now we return to the crappy sports press asking Lambert superficial questions and Lambert giving superficial answers every week.
  13. http://swissramble.blogspot.com/ has good data in their articles.
  14. You are being clear. 1.) Is just plain wrong. You should go and listen to it. He did not say he could do without the FA Cup. He responded to a leading question by broadening it. 2.) You are correct. He is probably kicking himself and if the Villa media bloke (Doogan?) has any sense he will have put radio WM on the "never gets an interview with Villa again" list.
  15. Old briny he say: comments are NEVER taken out of context. That is the last refuge of a rogue. He said what he said and it was quoted on the BBC web site (so no slurs about gutter journalism etc.). There are all sorts of ways you can imagine he didn't quite mean it to come out that way, but that is undoubtedly what he said: Just go and listen to the whole thing yourself. It was a leading question and his answer wasnt even specifically about Villa. And of course the BBC is terrible at sports journalism, one of the worst in fact.
  16. Pretty awful journalism there looking for headlines. You can go listen to the full interview. It was a leading question and Lambert was speaking about every team, not just Villa. http://www.freeradio.co.uk/shows/tom-ross/
  17. He is right. Cups are for playing the kids or reserves. He needs to focus on the league.
  18. I think its become the default Paul Lambert thread since the old more neutral one got locked. Might be worth a punt trying to start a more positive one if you feel like it.
  19. Gabby seems to thrive on the hate. Home or away, the worse it is the better he plays.
  20. Why not? People changed their mind based on us getting narrowly beat by Palace. Seems more than fair to change it back again based on Sunderland.
  21. If we had lost at home with one shot on target like Sunderland did today we would be singing the praises of the away team and manager. Time to give ourselves a bit of credit I think. Strangest thing though, we had several moments of pure passing class in todays game. Which stood out amongst the majority of crap. Not sure what that means but I am going to give credit to the manager and coaching staff for some progress.
  22. Thanks for passing this on. My opinion , I dont think Tekkers is going anywhere but who knows. Its always good to get some player gossip. Cheers!
  23. Thanks for the post HH. I cant deny the club has changed and to have our ambition level so clearly laid out is a bit depressing. I like Lambert, I think he is doing a good job but Lerner has decided Aston Villa is a club which right now can hope for mid table safety rather than trying to win things. To be fair to him he has forked out a lot of cash so I do not blame him at all. But the truth is, many of us fans have grown up seeing ourselves in a different light. As a club which should be aiming to win the league, not just survive in it. Many of us expect our club to be playing some of the best football in the country by dominating other teams, not celebrating a fortuitous counterattacking win. The current direction takes some getting used to , I hope, in the future that our ambition will change upward again.
  24. Came on and played pretty well. Should be starting ahead of Westwood.
  25. This would be fantastic on so many levels. Not gonna happen though, Lerner & Faulkner will have never heard of him.
