And even then...did you watch every game that was on tv that palace played? like...i watch a lot of english football.. close to nearly every game that is on TV and then 2/3 games at 3pm kickoff....And i could never come up with the opinion of "top class performance every 3 months" because i still dont think i watched palace enough

Still not the most convinced tbh. And think its incredibly easy for that "average random fan who has only watched sport" to get to the same level as the average sunday league football player. And its gone quite a bit off topic from the original point. From what i hear about sunday league its mostly just training for fitness and working on your technical ability than it is tactics. So i dont think the average sunday league player really knows that much more. Maybe just a tiny bit. This is going major offtopic from what this thread is about. but as were talking about the main forum and tactics. The biggest problem of casual fans imo, is that a lot of them look at the direct immediate result to decide whether tactics were good or bad. Oh we lost? Tactics were bad from our manager. We won? tactics were good. It could have been the same tactics and it would be good or bad depending on the result. It really bothers me. Way more than it should

Whoever has decided to take the time to learn about tactics. Ill be amazed if your sunday league football training sessions went any further (or indepth) than just random fitness/kicking a ball about in a formation. Ill be amazed if an average random guy who has played sunday league who goes to work 9-5, kicks a football about training once or twice a week and then plays a game on sunday automatically has a better understanding of tactics than a guy who has spent time learning about it in his spare time. I know a couple of people who play sunday league football, and i know for a fact they know nothing other than what a formation is and theyve never took the time to try understand. If i mentioned gegenpressing to them, they wouldnt have a scooby what i was talking about. (one example showing how you can learn stuff on the interwebs which you wont be able to at your average sunday league game)

But thats the point. They shouldnt be shite because theyve played football at the highest level. Their tactical understanding should be amazing, but sadly it doesnt come across like that at all. (if what youre saying is true) If you think you have to have played football at a highish level to be able to develop/learn an understanding of football/tactics then youre silly. Theres a TON of information online if you really want to learn. This whole "football manager" insult has to be one of the most cringeworthy comment there is. Some guy disagrees with you? youre just an FM idiot who doesnt understand real football because you dont agree with me. Im curious to know how high of a level of football you have played at to be able to tell if people are FM idiots or have an actual understanding of "real" football. Do you mean just playing casually with friends? Or sunday league? Or do i have to have played semi-pro to be able to comment on tactics? im not 100% sure but i think it totally depends on the type of red card. If its last man etc its just 1 game ban. If its violent conduct or misstimed horrible tackle its 3 games. haha this game

I always thought it was Benteke who wanted the crosses like that ("if your best header'r wants that type of cross you do it", or something similar). I find this post staggering when you are defending Clark's defending on the first goal. Yep. He has no real issue with Clark, who was at fault for a goal, and no real issue with amavi, who was at fault for a goal. But writes a detailed criticism of the one defender who was decent. In his defence: What is there to write about amavi? Just because somebody did one mistake which led to a goal doesnt mean it needs to be mentioned in detail. Amavi knows he **** up, we know he **** up, but it seemed to be only one mistake in a very good start to the league. If lexicon think richards is making mistake over mistake but it just hasnt led to a goal yet, i think thats more of a reason to write a detailed write up than one or two players making one mistake. (thats just a bad way to look at things iyam) I thought he was out of position a lot but it was my turn on challenge pool table so had to keep flicking my head back and fourth to the game. So my opinion on this game wont be great

i think theres soooo many misconceptions about arsenal from the average footballing fan. I still dont understand why people keep saying stuff which was relevant to arsenal 3/4+ years ago as if everything is the same now. Its definitely why im most active itt. fwiw i think giroud will get 20+ in the prem if he stays fit this season. He won't. Wont he? You sound pretty sure. Year on year improvement for goals for giroud (well pretty much all of his game). Last season missed the first 3/4 months due to injury and got 14 goals in 21app+6sub appearences. Dont think its that crazy to suggest he could hit 20 goals if he stayed fit all season. Nobody is saying hes as good as any of them strikers

I personally think the only thing stopping giroud from being an elite top10 striker in the world is his physicality (which is a shame but w/e). He just doesnt have the pace/power to do what saurez/aguero does and create something out of nothing in very very tight spaces for themselves. His linkup/onetouch passing/vision is very elite. Finishing is pretty good (it has been getting better since he come to the prem but its still good, think people have monaco game stuck in their head a bit too much recently). Heading is good but ofc this attribute becomes less important for teams that are more elite. Movement is also very elite He just needs that ability to create something out of nothing which he cant do due to his size. But yeh he probably will need replacing soon but isnt really anybody about whos a significant upgrade to him for the money it costs. Benzema is probably the worst on the list of strikers that can be an upgrade to him
