  1. Steve Bruce is bigger than us. We won't attract him seeing as he did the double against us this season without his team even getting out of 1st gear.
  2. Hypothetical question - if he stayed on and we finished 6th next season and won the FA Cup (I know this isn't very likely) would he meet with your approval then? What really makes you think GH will turn us from a shambolic mess to a top 8 team next season? Forget the trophy. Forget top 6. I'm actually suggesting that even top 8 would still be very difficult for him next season due to a numerous things such as his health, his alien antics with fans, the fact only one of his players (I don't count loans) have worked at the moment with a huge fee of 24m, his already demonstrated he'll throw away a cup by playing a weak team against a serious strong team away which he said he'll do it again, bad results due to bad decisions, appointing an extremely poor number 2 and may stick with next season etc. Let's take a look at some other clubs. Liverpool have something to get excited about. A manager who they're strongly connected to already has already turned them from a mess into a solid top 6 team again and that's without their star players that they had to rely on under Rafa. West Brom have something to get excited about. Hodgson has got West Brom out of a relegation battle extremely by taking them from a yo-yo team to a solid top 8 team. That's bloody amazing when his had the least time out of all the managers to relate to the players and having to play against hard opponents with a weaker squad than our manager GH who's had since September with 30m to spend. These are managers who have connected at the right club and can get the right results. That's the kind of manager who we should be aiming for, not sticking by someone who hasn't even begun to walk yet. I think you need to read my post again. I find it absolutely bemusing that I can explicitly say "I don't think this is likely" and then have you come out with "what makes you think GH will turn us into a top 8 team?". If you're looking for an argument over GH you're not gonna get one. Erm, I did read, especially the part where you said unlikely, that's why I gave you a fair realistic approach by saying if GH could finish top 8 without no trophies and went onto give my opinion on why he still couldn't hack it. If you're not willing to argue that, then that says all I need to know. And PrideofBrum, you seem to bang on about form alot. If West Brom's form keeps up, they'll finish top 8.
  3. No way would Andre Villas Boas join even though he would be perfect for us. The board have no ambition to hire a young oversea employed manager. It has to be an old experienced PL unemployed washed up canidate. No risk and no drive.

  5. Randy Lerner has really done a good job with his first appointmenet and trusting him by hiring one of the worst number 2 in existence that could give him the possiblity of being the carektaker manager (which it bloody has!). Let's hope he makes the decision right the second time by getting a good manager who's employed for a reason.
  6. I've just thought of the perfect manager for us. Why couldn't Arsene Wenger come join us? His really unappreciated by the Arsenal fans after all his done for them and we would welcome him without any intense pressure. He would be a step up from Houllier in terms of success. The Arsenal board will probably keep him though due to financial reasons, but it's a long shot.
  7. Carlo Ancelotti is a good laid back manager, but I don't think he fits in with the boards criteria. He may go to Liverpool if Dalglish steps down or Man City if Mancini gets sacked.
  8. To be honest, I would actually like Moyes to come here. But it's alarming that he hasn't won a trophy (McLeish managed to in a similar budget and shorter time) and seems to get knocked out of the cup by teams that are easily winnable. I mean it was Reading at home and another lower league team at home in this season wasn't it? There's also the other factor he seems to always have a bad start to the league meaning he'll probably never achieve a Champions League spot. Yeah, he managed to once (a long time ago...) but that was without Man City in the equation.
  9. Any better realistic managers than these: Moyes - Hasn't won a trophy with Everton despite being with them for so many years Coyle - Stubborn and got exposed against Stoke when it really mattered McClaren - Been sacked from England and Wolfsburg. Clearly not good enough Jol - Was outsmarted by McClaren in Dutch league Big Sam - Poor version of MON Hughes - A draw specialist. Average MacDonald - Better suited for reserves Rafa - Would prefer not to have another EX Liverpool manager this time. Plus his gone downhill recently Lambert - Untested in Premier League.
  10. A draw is good. We were never gonna win under the talentless Gary Mac Bottom teams not managing to win is making our relegation safety more likely when we've added an extra point
  11. I wouldn't say Bent was a bargin. Chicharito is more of a bargin.
  12. Yay Bent! Now all we need to do is win and Wigan to defeat Sunderland. I want them to get relegated even more than Small Heath.
  13. He does look very nervous. I think it's a mistake playing him at this current stage. He'll come good next season though I reckon.
  14. Hughes is 'meh' for me. I mean, he had a short good spell at Blackburn, but apart from that, his been fairly average.
  15. Aston Villa Injured: None Newcastle Suspended: Nolan (two matches), Perch & Tiote (both one match) Injured/unavailable: Ben Arfa (broken leg), Best (ankle), Gosling (knee), Ireland (ineligible), Smith (ankle) There's no reason to lose this unless GH is the worst manager to ever grace modern football.
  16. Robbie Keane is not British. He's Irish. That fish would show more life and commitment as our next manager.
  17. That's Britain. So anyone who was born in those countries would make them British.
  18. LOL fail. You're telling me you rather stick with GH over Moyes? I presume you don't get it either.. hmm, never mind. You'll soon clock on to the mistake i'm sure.. well I hope anyway. Seeing as BOF doesn't know what on earth you're going on about as well, I'll consider it lack of making yourself clear. Moyes isn't British.. he is Scottish. It always urks me when people claim he is British... he isn't "British" at all. I really shouldn't need to make myself clear as it really is obvious even by his bloody accent, ah well. Houllier is French.. Moyes is Scottish.. MON is Irish.. etc.. Erm...his still British as well.

  20. LOL fail. You're telling me you rather stick with GH over Moyes?
  21. True, we'd probably be seeing McClaren talking about the need for 15 points to stay up! whys that then? sm won the league in holland with fc twenty & a cup..won a cup with boro..let me know if you can think of gh winning a double or a championship. won 5 trophies with liverpool in 1 season. and the league with lyon twice on the bounce Ramos won loads of trophies at Sevilla. Let's hire him next.
  22. Even when Young missed the penalty against Bolton, we were still winning. All we had to do is hold on the lead. We allowed 2 goals to go in the last 15 minutes. We deserved to lose. There's simply no excuse for it. These 'what ifs' are becoming extremely annoying. A 'what if' would have seen us lose against City with all the bad luck they had. Funny how no mentions that.
  23. If you ask me thats the type of manager that our players need, someone with a bit of fight and passion. Not some washed up old fool that can't motivate his team. Fran werent you one of the ones mostly moaning about Houllier saying 'we cant win' vs City? I don't see how that's anything different to the people who think we can win vs Wolves and saying the same thing about Newcastle with GH under the helm. Again, we got 5 points from 6 teams that aren't even in top 6.
