  1. You're just sad cos you lost money on Hughes being the next manager. I thought it was suppose to be easy money?
  2. Hardly a great choice but it would have to be McClaren. I second the exact opinion as bickster. Is it actually confirmed anywhere that we have approached Ancelotti? I'm a bit confused as to how Carlo saying no would narrow it to just those two? I never said it would. It is hypothetical... Surely Rafa would be a better choice? I'm already over the Barry drama who still wanted out regardless.
  3. I sort of knew.... The amount you go on about it it's almost as if you want McClaren to be appointed manager. Yeah, I want him so much that I'm showing him the respect of saying his proper last name. Oh, hang on a second...
  4. Was it true we was after McClown last year but we couldn't because he was the Wolfsburg boss?
  5. McClown could be the next favourite then. :? Says who? I bet Ancelotti is more likely to be a target than McLaren. The Betfair market. Normally, that's a good indication of the true odds. Hughes is already drifting away.
  6. Why do people think Hughes would be here for the long term? Think about it... He's been between 4 different jobs in 7 years and we could be the 5th. He would only have lasted 10 months at Fulham despite the fact he has the full backing from the fans over there. If he finds success with us, you honestly think he'll stick around if a bigger club come calling? Don't forget he would have done it twice already. And if he doesn't find success, well....I doubt a club bigger than us would come knocking and we would be stuck with mediocrity. Big whoop.
  7. There's quite the venom over McClown. No one rates him then?
  8. I don't think he was really serious about West Ham. He was just being polite.
  9. He also nearly relegated Wolfsburg who were champions of the German league just two seasons ago.
  10. I think people don't give Ancelotti enough credit. If he did join us, I'm sure he would be willing to adapt to the circumstances and still do a good enough job.
  11. Earlier on, nearly everyone was accepting Hughes like he was the answer to everything. It made baby Jesus cry. I like how there's more ambitious posts to read now.
  12. Why is Hughes third favourite? Come on people, look at that list.
  13. But just think of his own personal Villa umbrella and his attempt of a brummie accent.
  14. About bleeding time. But why has the statement got 'immediate effect'. Why would they use those infamous words again? Anyways, not Hughes please.
  15. Can you honestly not just wait for an announcement ??? I did wait for the announcement. It was suppose to be today. We should hear something by now but still nothing. They can't be taking the piss when alot of time is required to sort out the squad. It also seems they've left themselves in a right mess with Houllier's settlement. It's just one mistake after another every single time with this board.
  16. Does anyone have a clue on what's going on with the club atm? Has Houllier left yet? Is Hughes the only one who's been targetted?
  17. Well we are declining. Our club is in a right mess atm.
  18. That would be nothing to do with luck. That would be sheer madness.
  19. This in a nutshell. I'm really surprised by the fans on here, I would have thought the majority would expect someone more worthy than Hughes. It's no wonder our best players want to leave. They know this club won't probably even get to the Europa League or win a cup and the board are making damn sure of that if they hire Hughes. I bet Bent must be wishing he could leave right now. I don't think he signed up for this.
  20. Steve Bruce was a winner as a player, does that mean he's a winner as a manager? Let's get some perspective.
  21. But we are an average premier league team who finish between 7th and 10th. :| So why do people cry that our best players leave every season? It's basically simple. No drive or motivation and yes more money. The board are basically highlighting us a club that the sole reason we exist now is to polish all the rough edges of players and then feed them to a higher club. That's the way it is now it seems, which is pretty ridiculous when in 2010 we were challenging for top 4. Total nose dive.
  22. Oh, and I find it laughable that people are giving Hughes credit that Man City won the FA Cup. That's funny because I don't recall him signing Yaya Toure, the most important player that has held City together and scored the winning goals in the semis/finals.
  23. He has never done a good job either. A draw specialist. First year with Blackburn he took them to 6th place and the League Cup final - at a time when they had little or no money to spend. In 18 months at Man City, he took them to the fifth (at the time he was ousted), having formed the core of the team that qualified for the Champions League a year later and won the FA Cup. Took Fulham to 8th with a limited playing squad, little money to spend, no pre-season (notice how he never used that as an excuse throughout last season?) and a goal difference of +6 with arguably his two best attacking players missing for a large portion of the season. And he's never done a good job? Opinions are one thing - ignoring the facts are another. Blackburn - He didn't win Blackburn the cup. Got worse in the club as time went on. Man City - We were above his team when we he left and he was on a much higher budget. Fulham - The same Fulham who got to the Europa League final the season before? It may come to shock, but they've got a solid group of players. Opinions are opinions like I've just proved. He's done an overall average job. Nothing too shocking, but nothing too spectacular either.
