  1. Oh i think this has been thought through, and it been thought through alot. McLeish would be fully aware of Downings situation when he sat down with Lerner at the interview stage. Hes made it clear as day he wants to leave. If anything, McLeish has played a blinder by eventually making Liverpool pay what we wanted to pay. That money will now go a LONG way to making the squad much stronger all round, rather than a couple of primadonnas on the wings who think the world revolves around them. How the **** do you know the money will be used on the squad? Also what makes you even think McLeish will attract quality here or even decent replacements? Clinging on false hope again? Why 'the ****' wouldnt it?!?! Just because you automatically assume the worst at every moment doesnt mean the worst is gonna happen!!! Im tellin ya, that 40m from Young and Downing will go back into the squad. Even if not all of it NOW, then a large portion now and another chunk of it in Jan. Take some prozac will ya ffs But the worst keeps happening. Where's the positives? We've done absoutely nothing in the transfer market. We've instead released and sold players and paid huge amounts of compenstation across MON, Houllier and McLeish. You.....HONESTLY think we'll spend 40m?! Haha, you're gonna be disappointed yet again!!!! Well im glad you are happy in the thought that we wont spend any money. Go you. Well done. But when the players start rolling in, can you AT LEAST try and start being a bit more positive at that point?? You posts are truly (and uneccessarily) depressing I'm not happy we won't be spending money. I'm laughing at the fact you think the board will spend that much (whey they have proven to be liable this summer) and the fact you insist of living in your own bubble when I'm trying to spell out the reality.
  2. Wouldn't it make more senese to get the replacement before Downing was sold? Think about it...I think the board are struggling yet again.

  5. I can actually see us **** it up somehow. I'm sure Whelan will get one up on Randy again that's for sure.
  6. That's why the board has to go. They're turning us into a joke.
  7. Look Zatman, Downing has hinted he wanted out before even McLeish came in. Why then would McLeish come out saying he isn't for sale and then sells him later on WITHOUT any new players bought. How on earth is he in the right? The club had the power to keep him.
  8. Nope, I didn't touch the poll. I wasn't gonna unfairly vote no (he hasn't done anything wrong personally), but I wasn't gonna say yes either because his press conference was just words, meaningless. But now he's done something wrong and he has pretty much lied, so he gets a massive no from me.
  9. McLeish: Downing isn't for sale. There you have it. Words are meaningless. It's action what counts. *Votes no*
  10. Of course they are. Don't be so stupid. We haven't won **** all for 15 years.
  11. We have to buy them first for christ sake. Have we done that yet? Absoutely not. Stop suggesting it's that easy. The board are **** terrible at rubbish like this.
  12. oh dear.. **** ME. I knew it would be a shit summer. Are you all finally waking up now? Jesus christ.
  13. We're currently relegation material as it stands. We have Bent. but he's no good without good supply, which we don't have.
  14. So we've bought no players and Downing is sold. Seriously, what the **** is this. The board are proving me right each day. A total and utter shambles.
  15. Agree that he is a very good player. He was rightly our POTS last season. But if you could get £20m for DJ and that funded the purchase of NZogbia and Johnson or Shaqiri, leaving the Ash money for other areas, would you not take this? It would make sense to buy them first.
  16. How? He's been trying to engineer a move to Liveprool long before McLeish was even appointed, after earlier saying he wanted to stay. So by that logic, Bent must be one as well seeing as he did something similar at Sunderland. It wouldn't surprise me if players like Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Ireland etc all think the same thing. But the problem with them is they know they're not going to get a better off and are gonna milk this club for all it's worth. There needs to be a better approach when it comes to players at this club. Firstly we need to attract quality players (no hope with McLeish as manager, thanks Randy), give them a minimum 5 year contract instead of the laughable 4, a loan spell to prevent deadwood to leech off this club, low wages (I mean look at Ireland wages for doing F all, players must think what's the point) and actually have better people on board that can persuade players we're actually going to aim high instead of giving up even top 6 ffs.
  17. So fans are willing to give Warnock a 'clean slate' who is God awful and slagged off our club (apparently), but Downing gets stick who played a part of our survival last season and now wants to further his career? What the hell? Some desperate fans around here.
  18. I wouldn't call Downing a prick. He is being fickle and for good reason.
  19. Downing can say the **** he wants to be honest. It's nothing compared to the shambles work by the board.
  20. You mean you didn't unlock the gun cabinet when McLeish was appointed? Joe Cole seems a possbility if Liverpool throw like an 18m Joe Cole for Downing. I'm not saying that's a good deal (far from it, I would rather take the money without Cole), but will our naive board see it? Most likely not.
  21. I think it's embarassing that if we lose Downing the only players we've got to fall on is Bent, the kids, troublesome players such as Warnock, Ireland, Beye, Collins, Dunne etc. Levy is making it clear he doesn't want Modric gone. This is the true test to see how good our board really is keeping players because we full well know that Modric is way superior than Downing and if we can't keep Downing, we need a new board who knows how to persuade keeping players better because losing 4 best players in 3 seasons is unacceptable. A piss poor job.
  22. Cos maybe...just maybe they have a better chance of getting into CL than us?
  23. Liverpool won't pay more than 20m seeing as Downing is older and will have poor resale value when he gets to 30 odd.
