I don't think Whelan will give in. It's hurting us more than Wigan that's for sure. I think it's absoutely pathetic the board can't cough up 1 extra million when we've made so much money from Young and Downing. I honestly think Randy is that tight and he won't be spending any more money on other players. The signs are right there.

You said McLeish will be backed, but it seems we won't even be using all of the Downing money. Also, where has the Young money gone to? We've released/sold many players that's lowered the wage bill. Wher has that money gone to? I think it's about time you stopped treating fans like mugs and admit the truth. -
So if the board are only buying 1 more player, why the **** are they pissing around with just 1 million? BOARD OUT.

If the maximum is 10m, then just pay the man. It's only 1m difference, peanuts in football terms. He's in no position to mess about seeing as he was happy enough to sell Young and Downing without any replacements.

I truly detest Paul Faulkner. Wouldn't mind Randy Lerner so much if he got rid of this useless fool and hired someone who's qualified and had football knowledge.

All this drama could have been avoided if we just used the Young money, got N'Zogbia and then sold Downing.

Given, Dunne and Clark would be the best defensive combo. Not just because they're Irish, but Dunne is a brick and Clark has the technical ability. Collins is too much of liablity to start, but I guess he could be good in the last 20 mins or so if Clark picks up yellow card or something like that. I'm actually thrilled with the defensive potential here, but it remains to be seen.

I have no problem with the 5 year contract. I rate Given and I think he'll do a better job than Friedel.

At least with MON you knew there was a chance of breaking top 4. Now we have no idea if we'll finish top half at this rate.

I agree with this. N'Zogbia could be the difference (again) of Wigan staying up in the Premier League and that would be worth much more than losing 10 million. Whelan has already fooled the board once and he can do it again easily.

The problem is we have McLeish who can't scout further than Scotland.

That would require the board to actually think and we know they cannot do that.

How does he owe us debt? We got an extra 8M from him, he was partly the reason why we weren't relegated last season and thanks to his goal against Liverpool he boosted us to 9th on the final day that gave us extra money and a respectable finish. I've never really rated him nor do I miss him, but credit where's it's due.

Did the board honestly bid 9.75m when Whelan wanted 10m and now Everton has joined the bidding war causing a delay? What lengths will the board sink to? It's endless. They cannot afford to waste time now they've stupidly sold Downing without a replacement. It has to be done sharpish.

If Randy spends all of the Downing money we could possibly get Given, N'zogbia and Parker if everything goes well. It's kind of funny now actually. His talent would be nice. I hope he improves alot this season. Anyway, I'm rather happy with Given. I just hope he doesn't get injured early on and we're stuck with Guzan. I've never seen such a nervous goalkeeper. He scares me alot.

I knew this would happen. The board are so stupid it's unreal. Whelan now knows Randy has alot of money to spend and will take advantage of that.

So basically we're waiting for Wigan to respond after we've agreed a fee from Downing? Ouch. It's time for the fans who believe the board are doing a good job to take their happy pills again.

Is there anything concrete? All I'm seeing is rumours with the word "understood" jumping up again.

A few things: 1. It hasn't happened yet 2. We still don't know if Randy is willing to spend all of the money from Downing and Young (nevermind his own money) 3. Ireland has been awful since joining here and people are thrilled with him being part of the formation? Wouldn't Delph be more worthy? 4. We still haven't replaced Milner and NRC. All we have is playmakers. Centre midfield will get ripped to shreads.

Don't worry, we still have some fansliving in cloud cookoo land thinking everything will be okay and we'll master the arts of the transfer market thanks to the talented Alex McLeish and the board. It'll probably take a relegation for them to realise the shit has hit the fan.
