  1. Erm...We're skint as well now. We've had to sell and release so many players this season just to sort out the wage bill. We're only looking at buying 1 more player, which would still leave us with -20m at least. If Everton had sold two of their best players (or most valuable) this season, they'll be able to afford N'Zogbia no problem as well. Could still well happen if Arsenal buy Jagielka 15m-20m. Moyes actually has quite a high net spend. It's definitely not negative, so Everton have spent money in the past. It's bizzare how they still remain superior than us. Yeah, we have a better pitch and facilities, but they have a better manager and team. 7/9 seasons they've finished above us with Moyes.
  2. How is the bad news generated by the fans? During this summer you've released a load of players and sold two of our best players. You've brought in just a goalkeeper and it's nearly August. McLeish has said he's looking to bring in one more player. Do you honestly believe that will be enough? Not only do we look very thin in certain positions, but even our starting lineup involves kids and players who didn't perform at all for the majority of last season. That's a massive risk and I don't see how you can think we'll challenge top 4. McLeish isn't a miracle worker as we've seen in the past. Why is it the board won't pay Wigan's price? We've sold Downing for 20m, so of course Whelan will expect N'Zogbia to be a higher value if Downing is worth that much. We would still be getting a better replacement for half the price. That's good business. How can you expect the fans to be happy if you're now not paying the extra 1m after making 35m from Downing and Young? Please don't tell me this is something to do with pride. At the end of the day, you're messing with Villa's future here. We have no decent left wing and each passing day there's a chance another club (like Everton) will jump in and get this player. Fans will be very happy if you manage to get him.
  3. Very strange... I still think he'll go to Everton.
  4. I'd say it again. We made a bid for 9m. It got turned down because Whelan wants 10m. We're not willing to budge the asking fee. How is it likely for us to still get N'Zogbia when there's still plenty of time for Everton to sell their defender for a high price and get him? We've already sold our players and done bugger all apart from paid a whole sum of 3.5m on a goalkeeper. There's a reason why Whelan is playing the waiting game. He knows other clubs will come up with the asking price soon enough when they sell some of their players. We've done nothing for nearly a week since the bid was rejected, so I have no idea why you still think it's likely we'll get him.
  5. Brilliant. So what do we know? Aston Villa are the only team in for N'Zogbia. Quite close in terms of valuation with a few media even now saying we've agreed a fee. Oh wait, no. That's not the truth! The truth is: forgetting they even need to replace Jagielka himself.. Nice. Whoah, hang on a second. Where did I say Everton couldn't replace Jagielka as well? Afterall, they've turned down a 10m bid Arsenal and it seems they've upped their bid. If they accept a minimum of 15m, this could give them the oppertunity of bidding for N'Zogbia and finding Jagielka's replacement. Afterall, Moyes is good in the transfer market for spotting players on the cheap. We've made a bid for 9m, it got turned down and we've done nothing since. If Everton come in and offer 10m, game over.
  6. The fact is we still have Petrov, Warnock Beye, Ireland, Heskey, Collins, Dunne and Young who take a massive slice from the wage bill. Out of those players, I would only keep Young, possibly Dunne and if we can't find any other LB, Warnock. We've also offered 35 year old Given a 5 year contract. How is the board sorting out the wage bill if they've just done that? He is likely to get injured more so than the average keeper due to his shoulder as well. Massive risk again. Overall, still looks rather bad. It doesn't help we're releasing some of the wrong players when we should be making more effort getting rid of those above. It's not impossible, it's just difficult. Houllier's biggest highlight (for me anyway) was how he got rid of the deawood quite effectively. I couldn't believe how he managed to sell someone as useless as Sidwell for example. Why can't McLeish do the same? At least get rid of that donkey Heskey for christ sake.
  7. How is the N'Zogbia deal looking likely? If anything, it's looking less and less likely. Everton will probably sell Jagielka and have enough fee to bid N'Zogbia before Paul Faulkner remembers he's suppose to be working. I mean, weren't some of our fans saying he'll be ours this week or the reason why McLeish was stopping over the weekend was to sort out this deal? So what's happened then? Nothing. The conspiracy theories are insane like they were during the manager search when all along the truth is staring you right in the face. The board are doing a lousy job. That cannot be fixed. Putting faith in those guys is asking for a deathwish.
  8. How is what happening at the moment any different to the Ellis or MON days? Doug Ellis - Sold players, tight at coughing up an extra small fee, going backwards. MON - Hardly any activity in the transfer window at all until August. The amount of stick they got was fair enough, but it's ridiculous how the current board/manager are getting a free pass now by some fans. How does that work? At least Doug had an excuse, he wasn't a billionaire and never made so much from selling two players. MON was rather annoying, but proved he could at least do well in the Premier League and didn't lose so many players in one season.
  9. The problem is there's no other quality replacements in the left wing and we really need to fill that gap. I don't want us burning money on someone like SWP or McGeady. N'Zogbia is actually very good. Pretty much the main reason why Wigan survived. I think he's better than Downing at least.
  10. Lesson Two: Occasionally, name your opponent in a made up group. Using speech marks will make the aforementioned group seem more realistic. Lesson Three: Forget the other two lessons, I'm just bored and like to cherry pick certain posters who I don't agree with. If I had actually read posters who I agree with, without rose-tinted glasses, I would realise they like to throw insults as well. Hey, you forgot lesson three. I added it for you.
  11. Good luck with explaining that to this lot Is this coming from someone who thought we was gonna be spending huge this summer barely a month ago? Try to have a consistent opinion in future. God you still on about that? I still think we will spend money. I havent changed my opinion - ok its a bit optimistic and like i said I cant predict the future. What I have got enough brain cells to do though is understand reasons for why we might choose not to spend a bucket load, Bent and Makoun are two possible reasons. If you had enough brain cells, you would have read my post above where I said where did the Milner, Sidwell and Davies fee go to? I'm sure there was a couple more players we sold as well. I think that would have covered the majority of Bent's and Makoun fee leaving still enough money from Downing and Young. Come on man, stop making desperate making excuses and wake up. The Milner, Sidwell, Davies fees went on - Milner Sidwell and Davies!!!!!! That's **** funny because everyone and their dog was saying the Milner fee covered Bent. I'm sure you thought it as well because there is no way on earth you would have thought we would be spending huge amounts this summer if that's your mindset.

  13. You're ridiculous. We can afford him Really you know the villa accounts do you? You know we didn't buy Bent and Makoun using the money we would get this summer for example? Well if you have access to the Villa accounts and know how much we actually have rather than mouthing off thinking you we can afford him, then i'll make sure i pay attention to what your actually saying then. As i said ridiculous, the board are **** because they are not rich. So where did the Milner fee go to? There's also Sidwell, Davies etc. You haven't paid attention at all because if you did you know we can afford N'Zogbia, it's just the board trying to be clever by not paying 1 million more. We put a bid in, remember? If you also remember correctly, it's not just about the money. It's about the board being out of their depth. Remember the appointment of McLeish and how you cried about it for a few days? Couldn't understand it could you? There's other things such as the ridiculous compensation between 3 managers etc. Good luck with explaining that to this lot Is this coming from someone who thought we was gonna be spending huge this summer barely a month ago? Try to have a consistent opinion in future.
  14. You're ridiculous. We can afford him because we've made sales from Downing, Young and soon to be Cuellar. We've put a bid on 9m, but we can't afford to up to 10m? Give over. It's the board trying to be clever. There's no other decent left wing replacements of Zog's quality. I bet the board would love to have fans like you. That way, they could have hired Kev Mac, made Guzan as our number 1, sold a few players and not buy anyone. And guess what? You'll be doing exactly the same thing. Bending over and accepting it while bitching at your own fans. You keep telling them to stop moaning, but you're the biggest hypocrite around because all I ever see you do is moan at fans without even discussing the topic at hand.
  15. But the thing is it does look like Everton are willing to spend 10m, if they make about 15m + out of Jagielka. We're not willing to spend 10m despite the fact we've made 35m from Downing and Young, while desperately needing to fill that void. This is why the board has to go. They're so out of their depth like they was with the manager search. Why do fans put up with this shambles I don't know.
  16. Why do I get the feeling this is like the managerial search where fans are looking into this too much? There was some who thought it was Moyes bang on due to nonsense on Twitter and look how that turned out... I think it's inevitable the board will let us down again. Don't forget that's their biggest strength.
  17. Some of you are already thinking Ireland will do the business? I mean he only lasted about 40 mins before going off injured. Seems abit injury prone to rely on..
  18. Stu, I thought you said N'Zogbia will be definitely signed this week?
  19. What do you call people who bash their own club? Still it's nice of you to stick up for Wigan. The board aren't the club. They're just guys who pull the strings.
  20. Why do people bash Wigan as a club? To me it's painfully arrogant. I also don't see why people are bashing Whelan. He's done good in his life, made good appointments where Wigan has managed to stay in the Premier League, as well as identified quite a few gems. He sees our clueless board get 20 million out of Downing and 15 million out of Young, he must think "oh wait a minute. if those guys are going for that much, I see no reason why N'Zogbia can't be worth more seeing as he one of the main reason why he kept us up."
  21. Hogwash and piffle. Mauro Zárate Wilson Palacios Borja Oubiña Rafael Schmitz Olivier Kapo Daniël de Ridder Richard Kingson Quincy Owusu-Abeyie Kemy Agustien Carlos Costly Grégory Vignal Míchel Giovanny Espinoza Christian Benítez Nikola Zigic Martin Jiranek Jean Beausejour Matt Derbyshire Obafemi Martins Aleksandr Hleb If you're going to moan, at least moan about something that actually exists. Oh I'm sorry, I should have said quality oversea players.
  22. Or Juan Vargas. Or Ryad Boudebouz. Or Lewis Holtby. Or Maksym Bily. Or Dusan Tadic. Or Oussama Assaidi. Or Yassine El Ghanassy. Or Giorgi Merebashvili. Or Zlatko Junuzović. Or Valentin Stocker. Or Cristian Tanase. There's a whole damn world of options out there. But we have McLeish who doesn't seem to attract oversea players.
  23. Jagielka - arsenal ? Dont get me wrong, I'd like him at the Villa, but he is nowhere near a player that is Champions League material - and even if he was, Arsenal need a different type of defender - they need a version of Vidic or Terry , Jagielka isn't that. Bizarre if true (unless they plan to revamp their entire defence) They just made a 10m bid that got turned down. Villa should hurry the **** up and just bid the 10 million. We're gonna lose him and be left with options like SWP. I'm sick to death of the board being so pathetic time and time again.
  24. If Everton manage to sell Phil Jagielka for at least 15m, I can see Moyes bidding this player for 10m and he'll be at Everton.
