I think it's a disgrace Petrov and Heskey are still with us. Any reasonable club would have had those 2 players sold by now without these ridiculous contracts and wages. Gabby should never start. At best on the bench. And Collins, **** hell.... The team is looking too static. We won't see many goals by this season. There's no way Bent will get 20 goals.

I think this pre-season is proving how poor our youth are. The majority are in their 20s now, it's time to step up.

I would rather we cut our losses and get him off the wage bill. We already have a creativity midfield of Makoun, Bannan and Delph who seem to have a better work rate on lower wages. I don't see the point of him. Should have sold Milner for more money instead. Awful business.

We'll struggle to get top 10. You could see it in McLeish's eyes when he said 9th would be difficult. Come on, be realistic here and stop with the PR spin. You can't kid us anymore. It's plain obvious we need at least a defensive midfielder and a proven winger. There's no other midfielder like NRC (who has defensive traits) and Albrighton seems to be having difficulty progressing now he's been found out. It's also worrying that McLeish is testing Delfouneso, Gabby and Heskey on the wing. None of them can cross well, so how can we expect Bent to score goals if he isn't getting the service? Are these our backup 'wingers' incase Albrighton or N'Zogbia are off the pitch? Unbelieveable.

We got shafted by City. I wish we had taken the full money instead. Now we're stuck with an overpaid player who does more harm than good in the Villa team.

Reassuring to see our midfield improved when Bannan, Makoun and Gardner came on the pitch. I really hope we manage to ship out Petrov and Ireland. Awful pairing in the midfield and a massive drain on the wage bill. Oh and Given is fantastic. Hasn't lost his form at all.

We shouldn't mind losing against Chelsea, it's the fact our team don't even look good enough for top 10. Hoofing the ball, defence looks a mess, disjointed midfield and not much depth in the squad at all. Only highlight is Given.

I knew Torres would score against us. Typical really.

Our defence are **** hopeless. Thank christ we have Given.

It's actually scary we're being dependant on the kids this coming season. Not one of them look good enough. Even Albrighton who was good last season looks worse. They really have to put a shift on.

We really need a defensive midfielder. I can see alot of opponents walking through our midfield with ease.

+ Given looks like he could save us a few points - Sloppy defence returns - Long balls again - Ireland is more trouble than his worth - Not seeing much from the kids

This is the way forward now. Give longer contracts to young, proven and talented players. Then we sell them off for much more if a bigger club wants the player.

Erm..if you had read H&V, some of our own fans are saying it.

Our midfield was brilliant 2 seasons ago due to Milner who done pretty much everything. Our midfield was good last season due to NRC who shut down the opponents midfield. Now, we're in deep trouble in this section. All we have mainly is creativity when you need more than that. The board haven't got a clue.

I'm rather concerned about our midfield. We need a strong defensive midfielder at least. At least I'm more confident with the defence now. All the stick they got last year when really it was Houllier's lack of organsation in that section.

What a better time to put a bid on Dann. Make it happen and this could turn out a brilliant year on the transfer window.

If Cuellar is sticking with us, he could be used a versatile defender. Then we really wouldn't need Hutton. Just give us Walker instead. But I agree the priority should preferably be a defensive midfielder.
