This season has been disappointing but **** me, we've beaten Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal. He got a shit club like Norwich promoted from League 1. So what do you get more points for beating them rather than Fulham? No! Didn't think so. I think the point being made was that you don't get the results we've got against the better teams in the league by being a crap tactician. The players carry more blame for the Fulham defeat than PL does IMO. Its not like he's sending them up the tunnel with the instructions "Remember lads, defend like you've only just been introduced." or (vs. Man Utd) "Its a fine of a weeks wages for every goal you score Christian" There is some recieved wisdom in football "By Championship players and that is where you will end up" - half our squad are just that, and that isn't solely Lambert's fault either.

Miller should be sacked as a Minister and from the party, investigated by the Police and HMRC and then prosecuted for any offences she has committed. Look at Southampton and Swansea. Clear cultures of poisitive, attractive successful football that persist despire managerial changes. The biggest signing that AVFC could make this season that would guarantee the biggest impact is not a new Manager or that elsuive star player to lead us to glory, its a Chief Exec that has a vision and knows the game. Eames you talk of the 1890's well check your history because we had a little bit of success 90 years later in the 1980's which many of us can remember. They're usually taken at Tiger Temple in Thailand. "Look at me, I'm sitting next to a Tiger, which is of course a naturally passive animal, and the fact it's sitting placidly next to me is nothing to do with beatings, poor treatment and/or regular drugging since it was taken from its mother as a cub". I can't wait to get this picture on Facebook so people can like it. I was saying exactly this on the weekend. My point was exactly the same. All the pictures of people with tigers look rubbish. It just looks like a dead or tranquillised tiger with someone perched next to it. You are conflating two totally seperate issues there. As you well know none of those specifics are unrealistic at all and they are totally valid criticisms. What is unrealistic is all the other nonsesne about "this great club" "how have we fallen so far" and the other psuedo emotional bullshit that certain individuals trot out.

Its not the expectation that pisses me off. Its the whining and the rhetoric that gets me. I want and expect Villa to do well, I expect the players to give 100%, not to **** up, and the manager to know his arse from his elbow tactically. The delusion of grandeur is what really gets to me.

Since this is clearly targetted at me I will answer you. If you are unable to extract meaning from posts beyond a literal reading that is your failing not mine. However, in an attempt to be educational I will try and help you. Clearly noone expects Villa to win the league, the point I was making, that you rather spectacularly missed, is that the expectations of fans do not match the reality of our situation. The constantly bleating about "how far we've fallen" and "this great club is in ruins" are laughable. We are not a great club, and haven't been since the 1890s. That is not solely Lambert's or Randy's fault. We're better than losing 47% of the time and battling relegation. Expecting more than that doesn't seem too unrealistic to me. I'd agree with you there BJ10. We are a mid table team. 10th is about right. More than that is a bonus, less than that isn't ideal. Relegation would be a disaster. Since we won the League last (with thanks to Morely) our average league position is 10th, thats about where we should be.

Why is it "ignorant" please explain beyond internet acronyms. For me CED has pretty accurately summed the situation up. For me the players have decided amongst themselves they aren't going down are already on the beach.
