That episode made me sad - and not in a good way. So many dropped balls and missed opportunites. I accept the TV show for what it is and understand that it can't be EXACTLY like the books but they really let things slip with this.

StarCraft 2 is fabulous an absolute triumph of a game with a good level of re-playability. I bought the whole C&C anthology on t'internet for about £10 and am working my way through that....but its so much easier site easier than SC2 - although with developments in AI its easy to see why. In C&C if you just build a big **** off wall the enemy tanks drive up to it and park - if you are clever you can just wall in the enemy armour and smash it from the air. Not the case in SC2 where the AI actively tries to dick you over.

I think there is a strong debate to had about how the TV show consistently drops the ball in regards to the portrayal of women and the use of gratuitous nudity and violence. HBO often resort to the lowest common denominator in order to keep the viewers interested. Some of the use of nudity has solely been to keep the pervy teens happy and the gargantuanly misjudged rape scene on this Season do the show no favours at all. However To an extent Ginko is right that to say its adolescent titillation misses the really detailed character and world building as well as a gripping and complex story of politics and intrigue. However as much as I like the show (and I really do) it is not a patch on the novels.

Do you remember the story of Tony Martin, the farmer who shot and killed a burglar and injured another when they broke into his place? It happened in 1999 and caused a big discussion in the press since he was then convicted of murder but then that was bumped down to manslaughter. I think it was as recent as last year that he was burgled again and confronted the burglar but only threatened this one. Back in 2012 there was a whole thing about changing the laws on how much force you can use to defend yourself and your home, I believe. It's all about 'proportionate force', but I think the amendments to the law have been heavily criticised as there's loads of loopholes. It's definitely a moral grey area though. It was a gypsy he shot, to be fair. To be fairer the manslaughter nick was because he shot one of the buglars in the back as he ran away. At no point could that be argued to be reasonable or proportional force.

Not sure what it is. I just feel like this season has been really dragged out. We keep seeing snapshots of loads of different stories but not much seems to have actually happened. Last night's episode was undoubtedly good, but it's still about a part of the story that I don't find particularly interesting to be quite honest. I'm sure it'll end up being a very important part of the story, but I'm much more interested in what's happening in Kings Landing and with Danaerys than I am about John Snow. Dunno, just not that impressed by this season. I'd certainly rank it as the worst of the 4 so far (although still undoubtedly great TV) I think that is very fair criticism of this season and a symptom of the fact they have started dicking with the narrative to fit the TV agenda. I'm pretty sure they wanted to s4e9 to echo s2e9 where they spent the whole time doing Blackwater. Trouble is, they have had to pad massively to delay the Battle of Castle Black to this episode but Season 5 Spoiler That all being said, Neil Marshall is a genuis and the whole thing was fantastic to look at.
