  1. Not a regular in this thread but a couple of observations. 1) if Murray is the 2nd best middleweight in the world I'm the third. 2) Golovkin is good fighter but clearly dopes like a really bad person give his connections to Astana and the Kazakh government. The cycling team was filthy as anything...I'd take a lot of convincing that he wasn't the same.
  2. No. For me the scouts work for and with the DoF and provide the intelligence needed to enable the DoF to identify and shortlist players for the managers consideration. The DoF then does the negotitation with the other club.
  3. Its all about the performance for me. I want to see us playing with some thrust and purpose, not just possession for the sake of it. We need to get forward in numbers and press much higher up the pitch than we did under Lambert. (That is not the same thing as Lambert's ridiculously high defensive line.) I want to see proper wing play with Sinclair and Gil giving Benteke and Weimann crosses and clever through balls to run onto. I'll happily wait for points but need to see improvement.
  4. I thought it was fine to be honest. He wins the ball cleanly and in one movement he is back up on his feet and urging Delph forwards - buts thats with the benefit of a slow motion replay. The fact that Schlupp goes spinning in the air makes it look worse than it was and I would understand any referee in real time giving the foul and a booking. .
  5. there were 10 german bombers in the air, there were 10 german bombers in the air, there were 10 german bombers, 10 german bombers, 10 gemrna bombers in the air and the RAF of england shot one down... there were 9 german bombers in the air... still think its sang in the pubs etc before england games but its pretty much been outlawed in wembley, like i said it wasnt 10 idiots chanting it like those chelsea fans, it was an entire train platform full of villa fans in hamburg and then it carried on in to the train, sure it was chanted in the holte when england played there too, they'll do well to get rid of that chant Anyone singing that is a massively sad prick. you could say that about the majority of football chants... Its one of the main reasons I avoid the "chants" thread. Seriously though, chanting is fine, singing is great. Holte Enders in the Sky is brilliant. Shit on the City etc. all fine. I just find singing a song about brave men dying is poor in the extreme and adds nothing to the atmosphere of a game beyond being as offensive as possible in a crowd.

  7. Went to the old Wembley a few times. Never been to the new one. I'm looking at it right now....but never been there.
  8. That only happens when the model is fundamentally broken. First Team Coach coaches the team, identifies week spots and asks the DOF to recruit to improve the squad in the areas of concern. DOF identifies players and shortlists according to what the club can afford - discusses this with first team coach who agrees targets for the DOF to recruit. There is no reason that model can't work if everyone pulls together and doesn't act like arrogant idiots. Its a joint decision - not one over another.
  9. Gregory was exactly the same and I/we loved him for it.
  10. We didn't Not his point is it. I agree, I don't think they would have gone for Pulis regardless even if he was available now. He doesn't fit the MO. Yeah - I can't see TF presiding over 1 defeat in 9 - be a false narrative ! Sherwood won't be here long term he will either bomb totally, or move on if he is anything approaching moderate. Why would he move on if he is approaching "moderate"? I don't understand. Also don't understand you first answer really. Fox has talked a few times about the ethos he wants to create here and Pulis fits precisely none of the perimeters as we believe them to be. I personally don't understand the love affair with him either, he's a sour faced word removed and the football is dire. I've no doubt he'd have kept us up, but that wasn't the point I was making was it. Comie on ! - I don't overlly mind the appointment of sherwood - I think in the short term it may give us the boost we need. But in the longer term Pullis will be winning games at the albion - Long after the Sherwood at Villa (IMO) - What is the ethos that Sherwood is giving us - that we would miss out on had we hired Pullis? In half a season @ spurs he was very gung ho - which won him some games, but when he came up against comparable opposition he was found wanting - sure he promoted some good youngsters - but the key difference they were there to promote, at Villa I don't beleive they are, hence a whole succesion of managers haven't put them in the first team in any great numbers. Surley your not taken in by the premise that we get a good youth set up - and over a period of time we will stumble on a set of youth players that can cut in the premier league. My post wasn't really about Sherwood, it was about Pulis and him being a sour faced autocrat with a penchant for shit football. That does not fit the ethos that Fox has outlined going forward. If we had appointed Pulis 9 games ago we'd have stayed up, but we've just as much chance now under Sherwood as we would under either manager because what they really need more than anything else is a bit of confidence and self belief instilled within them. We have the man for that job. Going forward, no matter what you or I think of him, Pulis does not fit the identity that the club wish to display, nor is it one I would like to see. We've had enough dour anti-football to last us a **** lifetime don't you think? You didn't answer question 1. Taken in? Are you asking me whether I believe that he will help to build a good youth set up? Truthful answer is I don't know. But then I don't really understand your point. Again. You're just waffling and not sticking to the topic at hand. Theres really no need for the angst Sherwoods a well connected guy - I beleive if he is nominally succesful at villa - a meduim sized london club will quickly come calling, he will quickly get fustrated with the lack of funds here - thats why I don't him here long term. Im sure the confidence and self beleif will come from Sherwood - how far it will take us Im not sure. If TF sees him as some long term startegist, and he is then thats stroke of brilliance on behalf of TF. I think you'll find there have been vacancies at two medium sized London clubs recently, neither of which Sherwood was interested in. The next step up in London from QPR/Palace is Spurs/West Ham. He's been at one and the other well? Not sure they'd fancy a former Spurs man. I also get the feeling Sherwood is the first part of a larger puzzle. He's the coach we have needed - but I wouldn't be surprised to see a DOF type role following as well.
  11. Er....dunno the output. Just that we've got the s-tronic tfsi version. Its quick...the 1.8 was a mentalist.
  12. Amazing how useful tits are in negotiations. Is it the high power 1.4 or the low power one? Big difference. Its a lovely car I adore ours.
  13. And the Sherwood "jokes" are horse shit as well - lets save the Chuck Norris comparisons for when he's kept us in the league and won the FA Cup shall we?
  14. Add Sunderland to that mix as well. We are easily not one of the 3 worst teams in this League.

Is he alive? Last I'd heard he was attaching a noose to the light fittings as the Sherwood news broke? Or was he simply preparing some auto-erotic fun for when you got home?
  17. Mech Mage is frustrating. I'm really enjoying playing Ramp Druid at the moment. 2xTazdingo, 2x Belcher, 2x Druid of the Claw 2x Ancient of War, 2x Ironbark. Get through that lot you pricks. Opened a pack of GvG cards with quest gold..... Gold Mal Ganis, Gold Gazlowe. DE'd them immidiately for Dr. Boom and Sneeds.
  18. Reading or Blackburn for me. Avoid Arsenal, Manyoo and Liverpool for obvious reasons. Save WBA for the final. Bradford would be dodgy as anything espcially on their ploughed field of a pitch. Awful.
  19. Anymore effort into Valentines Day over and above a shit bunch of flowers and a fumble - you're doing it wrong.
  20. Hopefully though with a bit of thrust and forward momentum we won't need to have our backs to the wall the whole time thats half the problem IMO. Its great knocking it about keeping the ball but if its not positive it invites pressure. The second half yesterday showed runners going forward, pushing Leicester back and creating space. Bacuna's goal being an excellent example. Plenty of options, plenty of bodies forward giving the defenders choices and our players space.
  21. I said in the "New Manager" thread that I would be pretty pissed off if Sherwood got the job and I do have massive reservations about how sustainable the appointment will be in the long term but that is all to come. If he can keep us up this season that would be excellent. The club have also got the PR spot on here. Before his official presser get him in the directors box...showing he gives a toss, jumping up and down etc. The shots of him going downstairs at half term... all of it. Perfectly handled. It makes a change and shows they can do it.

Thought it was good. SIARC bores the pants off me at the best of times so wasn't offended by Will Smith - although I like it when the F1 drivers do it.
  23. He wasn't my first choice....and I'm pretty pissed off the club have jumped at the first guy available. the persona he's portrayed so far is like a discount 'arry Redknap but....he's the guy in the gillet so we back him until he proves to us we shouldn't. All I want is to be able to watch match of the day and be proud. That's all. Just to be proud. Proud of the team, proud of the league position, proud of the club. If he can do that he's OK in my eyes.
  24. He's your wife..... You should control him better.....
  25. I'd like to know how I am 'avoiding tax' (to make it clear - I don't think I'm unique). I'd like to know too. I'm on PAYE so I don't actually have the option to fiddle my taxes. Eames works in the city, right? Maybe he just means everyone he knows avoids tax? Nope. Work for a Local Authority on PAYE....but if you pay tradesmen cash in hand you are avoiding tax. Sell your house for £249,999 and then accept £10k for "appliances" you're avoiding tax. Everyone does it. Do it in jeans holding a tool box you're Robin Hood. Do it in a suit with an account your just a tool. One is illegal, one isn't....and it ain't the one the media talks about.
