  1. Just got home. Lost my voice but what a day, what a day, WHAT A DAY!!!!!! Still on cloud 9. The lads were fantastic especially, Delph, Benteke and Grealish! The fans were definitely the Twelth Man today - tremendous! Bring on the Arsenal!
  2. Oh and to win the semi and FA Cup final :-) UTV!
  3. Unbelievably we are 6th in the form guide based on last six games. 4 point might be enough but would prefer 6
  4. All the omens were good but didn't want to tempt fate to **** it up!!! What a great result. Benteke back on form and now for Liverpool. Losing Sanchez may a blessing in disguise
  5. Is it true? I read on twitter from a Birmingham mail journalist that he watched the game from a box. I'm glad because that doesn't show a great attitude if he's storming off. It wasn't Dem, was it? I take the silence to this question as confirmation that no one actually said it. Yes I made it up. I was told during the game that Gil had left VP before the game kicked off and that his career at AVFC was likely at an end.
  6. Sorry TRO but in the case of the Arsenal game it was "poor passing" in the extreme and nothing to do with "poor positional play". It was one of the worst Villa midfield player performances I had seen in years. That said I think Sanchez just had a very bad day at the office and can still do a job for us.
  7. I am happy with that - a resurgent Villa can beat Liverpool or Blackburn. If the scum can beat Arsenal in a cup final anything is possible :-)
  8. The pitch invasion at the end was understandable if a bit small time. However the ****** who ran on before the final whistle were a disgrace to the club. I do not believe it will go beyond a very big fine but there is an outside chance that the FA will decide to make an example of us and impose much greater sanctions.
  9. This thread recently proves how fickle fans can be.
  10. Frankly I don't like Sherwood in the same way I wasn't keen initially on Ron Saunders. However if he manages to keep us up, wins the FA Cup and the Premier League next season he will be a legend. :-)
  11. VT is always good for a laugh. Given pulls off a blinding save and people forget the rest. Guzan is head and shoulders above Given.
  12. I don't think "he deserves" anything he will have to earn it.
  13. His record with Spurs is excellent, sample size or not. I don't really see how this is being augued with. He's a **** prick, but he's our prize prick now. Lerner obviously specialises in hiring pricks - maybe that's why his wife **** him off!
  14. What a load of shite! Disaster looms - yet again they have totally **** it up. I think our chances of relegation have just increased. I am so **** depressed.
  15. Seriously hope we do not get Sherwood. I really dislike him and do not accept that his spell at Spurs proved anything. In my opinion he will be divisive for the fans and players. We need someone who we can really get behind and who will more importantly inspire the team. SHERWOOD - NO!
  16. Lerner has proven to be an idiot but I don't think Fox is. He may not have been top dog at Arsenal but as COO of one of the most respected clubs in the world and an affiliate of Wenger he is obviously no mug. Very little happens at Arsenal without Wengers say so and it is reasonable to believe that he rated Fox. I therefore have to believe that Fox getting rid of Lambert with 13 games to go, wasnt a knee jerk reaction and sincerely hope he has a new manager lined up and is simply dotting the i's and crossing the t's with Lerner. Judging by Lambert's lack of reference to Fox in his earlier statement, it may well be that Fox had warned him sometime ago that his job was on the line. If so, I would hope that Fox has had irons in the fire for some time.
  17. I mentioned Houllier shortly after the news of Lamberts sacking. I'd have him back here. Don't think he will though, health reasons surely? Certainly not as manager - might be as DOF - highly unlikley IMO.. How feasible is Bob Bradley......where is he now ? Maybe houllier an adviser to fox? See my comment above: Houllier (and or Wenger) > Fox > Garde
  18. Would Garde come to us? I mean, he ticks all the boxes, for sure, but he's got 14 games left of the season over there and winning the league would be absolutely huge. Would he leave that for us? Another link is "Houllier" and despite what happened subsequently, no one expected his appointment at Villa. Searching further I came up with the following discussing Garde's tactics - I think he would be perfect http://frenchfootballweekly.com/2013/04/28/olympique-lyonnais-the-tactical-debrief/
  19. Comments from Lyon in 2012 (?) about Remi Garde: "When Remi Garde took charge of Lyon this season, he was given a one-year contract, told he had no money to spend and inherited a squad low on morale following a tough season under the rigid leadership of former coach Claude Puel". (sounds reminescent !) "Several months later, Garde has restored team spirit, has the team playing attractive, attacking football, and successfully blended in youth players while instilling a resilient streak that was lacking under Puel." (we desperately need "Team spirit" and an "attacking streak") "So what’s different under Garde? "The spirit," Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic frankly tells FOXSoccer.com after the game. "Simply, our game has changed. We play a lot more football, and we have a lot more freedom. The coach has put it in our heads that we can play." (we need a lot more football!) Despite the club's wish for him to continue, Garde decided not to extend his contract at Lyon at the end of last season "for family reasons"
  20. Would Garde come to us? I mean, he ticks all the boxes, for sure, but he's got 14 games left of the season over there and winning the league would be absolutely huge. Would he leave that for us? Leave who? He is supposedly taking a sabbatical at the moment having left Lyon
  21. I am going to stick my neck out and say we are in for Remi Garde. Partly based on Richards "hint" but also because Garde's reported decision a few weeks ago to hold off the Newcastle job till the summer didn't make sense UNLESS, Tom Fox tipped him the wink that Lamberts position could become open. Fox would have either known him or of him via Wenger when he was , at one point was discussed as a DOF at Arsenal. Wenger is said to rate Garde very highly and he sounds very like a chip off the Wenger block, ambitious and very much his own man: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/rmi-who-garde-tipped-to-succeed-old-boss-arsne-wenger-8418346.html A long shot maybe but it wouldn't surprise me given the Fox/Wenger link and Garde turning down the Newcastle job.
  22. After the fans clamouring to appoint Lambert, IMO the less we (and Lerner) have to do with it the better!
