  1. Dem, He was born 'thick' as shown by his appointments and running of the club. I sincerely believe that we have a 'sell to buy' policy
  2. We did that six years ago when we became "UNPREPARED"
  3. Mark, I am completely agnostic. Until I see differently I will not trust Lerner to ever get anything right. Some might have been placated by Hollis's actions and words but I am not. Only the appointment of a manager such as Moyes with a commitment to invest in quality players will persuade me that the club is trying to correct past mistakes. However I expect them to appoint the likes of Pearson or similar with vague or little promise of further investment. Season ticket renewals will be down the pan for next season and if the club do not get this appointment right and promise investment, even more fans will vote with their feet. As I have said and you know, I applaud and support what AVPG are doing but I will continue to be implacably opposed to Lerner's continued ownership.
  4. Mark, I think you are going to be disappointed yet again by Lerner. I believe that Hollis et al will not get further financial support from Lerner beyond preventing the club going under. Imo the board will have to finance any new player appointments by selling some of the current squad. Basically with Lerner 'at the helm' we are ******!
  5. The thought of getting Pearson as manager after the last 6 years makes me want to weep!
  6. Still could not actually say SORRY could they? That ****** Lerner couldnt be bothered to condescend to even write to the fans and left his puppet Hollis to do the grovelling. I will believe **** all coming out of AVFC till Lerner has gone.
  7. Really? We have just been relegated after an appalling season. Every appointment that Lerner has made in the past has been claimed to be positive and turned about to be the reverse. It is hardly surprising that many still remain skeptical about whether Hollis and others can fix the club. The constant reference to the shit owners we could have is frankly boring. Despite his millions, under Lerner in the last 6 years we have suffered the worst times and football that most Villa fans have ever known. It has been unrelenting crap. The statement should have said SORRY! Expecting fans to believe that the next steps will be positive while Lerner still owns the club is beyond a joke. The man is ******* incompetent in the extreme, and Hollis has yet to win any plaudits beyond firing the latest scapegoats under Lerner's ownership.
  8. So why is it being reported that they cannot get on with the new manager process/selection till Lerner tells them the budget? Bluntly he hasn't handed over all responsibility in anything but name. He still pulls the strings.
  9. Mark, Obviously we have had this debate before and still don't agree. Despite everything I believe that we have no option but to 'scream and shout' about Lerner as everything else is incidental. imho the new set up is no different in essence to the old. Hollis may have fired Fox, Almstadt et al and appointed a so called 'football board' but Lerner (and Krulak) still pull all the strings. The action that the club have taken to date apart from reducing costs amount in reality to sweet FA. Bernstein and Little are powerless and will end being the next scapegoats. We are now staring into the abyss and Imo it is going to get worse. Eventually they will find a new manager who will agree to work within the set constraints ala McLeish, Lambert without sufficient backing and we will continue to decline.
  10. Pity the rest of Lerner body didn't go as well. Ultimately it wasn't his heart that was the problem, it was his brain. I am far from a suspicious man but he is a curse on our house.
  11. As linked in the Lerner thread. The article in the People by Moxley suggesting that Lerner is delaying the new manager selection process, if true sums up the situation at VP for me. I fully respect what the guys of the Protest Group are doing and continue to back them. However i don't believe that AVFC will ever rise from the ashes till Lerner has gone. I do not think that any appointment Lerner or his subordinates make will turn the club around. Hollis said a month ago he wasn't Lerner's poodle. If Moxley's claim is true Hollis is both Lerner's poodle and puppet. And in turn Bernstein and Brian Little, despite his love for AVFC are nothing more. Ultimately imo Lerner should be the sole and constant focus of the protests. Yes I hear those who say he wants out and is trying to sell, but I don't think he necessarily does or is trying hard enough. Lerner is totally incompetent, none of his appointments or in turn their appointments have improved AVFC. We are basically screwed until he is gone. Small Heath have their witches curse we have Lerner.
  12. If true, this backs up what I have been saying for a while. Lerner is still totally pulling the strings, Hollis is just a puppet and despite their credentials the so called 'football board' are little more than window dressing to appease the fans but have no power to act.
  13. LERNER **** OFF, you rocket polisher - WORST THING TO HAVE EVER HAPPENED TO AVFC!
  14. Nothing to say that hasn't been said.... :-(
  15. I am more interested in watching the clouds go by than watching this game. The ultimate humiliation has to come via manure doesn't it?
  16. Obviously we will have to disagree. For me it is not just a question of "personality" although that is enough. I think he will be a shit manager. Time will tell but if we sign him, the 'groundswell of opinion' are welcome to him. I will not be around.
  17. Sounds a bit like what we may have expected from Garde......
  18. Cannot see what is wrong with; Lerner out or **** off Lerner
  19. I think you are deluded TRO. Nigel Pearson will imho be **** for Villa. The thought of him being AVFC manager appalls me! :-(
  20. I still think "Whistle on 74" would have a massive impact, possibly with the addition of fans holding up oversized red cards with just LERNER OUT (in white) on them. Potentially the referee would have to stop the match with several thousand fans blowing whistles it would cause pandemonium.
  21. You are right to an extent, but all the managers took their share of the blame and lost their jobs. Unfortunately Lerner is still here.
  22. That was quick - my comments via 5 live on BBC site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36035921 Aston Villa cancel player of the year awards as relegation looms Aston Villa have suffered a record-equalling 10 home losses this season. Aston Villa have cancelled this season's player of the year awards with the club facing relegation. Villa are nine points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League having won just three games all campaign and could go down on Saturday. "In the current circumstances, we are sure our supporters will understand," a club spokesman said. There have been several fan protests against owner Randy Lerner, including during the recent home loss to Chelsea. During the game, supporters held up banners that read: "Proud history, what future?" Villa supporter Mike McKenna, who organised the recent fan walkout protests during home games against Everton, Chelsea and Tottenham (MMcK we only walked out v Everton) said: There is a toxic atmosphere at the club at the moment. The players are not generally well liked." Aston Villa fans have made their feelings known at recent matches "Unfortunately, the complaints about the likes of [Micah] Richards, [Gabriel] Agbonlahor, etc have rubbed off on other players. "Maybe Jordan Ayew deserved an award but, with the toxic atmosphere, the club have thought it would only garner bad publicity to garnish the players with awards. "Generally, I would think the supporters support the decision not to have awards as there is nothing to celebrate."
