  1. Sincere and contrite apologies. I don't know what I was thinking of!
  2. So you agree with attending games (if you could afford it) and protesting now? That was a quick turnaround from your comment on Saturday: It's Your Round said: Another day where people go and hand over money to Mr Lerner in order to protest. That'll teach him!
  3. It is 'counter intuitive' in my opinion to be a supporter and NOT 'support' your club. The absence of your good self and thousands of others didn't stop us being relegated did it? It didn't change the ownership, you achieved nothing by your absence for the club. You not attending achieved what?... apart from making you feel superior to those that attended. Jog on....
  4. Absolutely nothing new here then. AVFC don't need a PR department now that they can trust the chosen few to spread the word. Hooray! Personally I find the new approach just as 'condescending' and it explains why some would not support the protests.
  5. Mark, definition of nous; 1British informal; Common sense; practical intelligence: We are saying the same thing :-)
  6. When I'm 64 Villa may be taken over. It's a Long and Winding road being a Villa fan
  7. Bit of a left field tweet regarding a Sir Peter Rigby in talks with Lerner & Hollis by @Rick_AVFC. Never heard of him. More talks being held between Lerner, Hollis and Sir Peter Rigby today. Sale is very close now 1:14pm - 28 Apr 16 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Rigby#Other_activities
  8. Mark, I would argue that it was exactly because of 'his lack of nous' 1. Faulkner - appointing him as CEO despite having no experience at that level inside or outside football 2. Houllier - known health problems 3. McLeish - Relegated SHA, hired by AVFC - disaster waiting to happen 4. The 'project' with Lambert - loads of money spent on low quality players 5. Fox - enough said and so on....
  9. Thanks. Thought it was strange. My understanding is that Ian Stokes represented VitalVilla.
  10. Completely disagree Pete with your final sentence. No disrespect mate, but I find that much of the criticism of the protests stems from the many who no longer go to games, others elsewhere who were tied to legacy of the Lerner regime, those that voiced support, but didn't participate or criticised from afar. If the protests serve no other purpose than to allow those who still go to VP to express their 'annoyance, regret, frustration and anger' they have succeeded. Personally I think AVPG has been incredibly consistent, rather than 'slightly blurry' and that they have had a greater impact than many acknowledge. Many fans do not trust the current regime and the departures of King/Bernstein suggest they are right no to.
  11. I understand that a new 'supporters' group has been founded with AVFC. The group apparently consists of the AVSTrust, Lions Clubs, H&V, VitalVilla, MOMS, Avillafan and others. However VillaTalk is not represented within the group. Was VT invited to participate? If not I find it strange given the fact that it is one of, if not the biggest fan forum. Has VT potentially been excluded because of it's association with the protests?
  12. For those who are not old enough to remember, this is the Sun's front page soon after the the tragedy. Now you might understand why many in Liverpool and elsewhere still refuse to buy this rag
  13. Hear, hear. The lies have been disproven. The families who pursued the truth against the odds and were often vilified by supporters of other clubs should be greatly admired.
  14. His potential move to the Middle East explains why he was practicing with the Sheesha pipe!
  15. WTF Gabby said to have an offer on the table from a Middle East club according to the Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/04/23/aston-villa-risk-fans-fury-as-head-of-recruitment-paddy-riley-st/ Villa also expect to conclude their investigation into striker Gabriel Agbonlahor this week, after he was pictured with laughing gas canisters on the night the club’s relegation was officially confirmed. Agbonlahor was suspended for the second time and is likely to be fined, ahead of his departure this summer. The 29-year-old is understood to have an offer on the table from a club in the Middle East.
  16. Well done and Keep going Den, most of the insults and criticism/cynicism stems from those who no longer go to games.
  17. Sounds very much like an attack on the fans. People like you make me want to puke!
  18. When we signed Westwood it summed up everything that was wrong about the direction Lerner was taking AVFC. I don't blame Westwood, he was just never good enough.
  19. Well done to all the lads in AVPG - another bigger and better protest!
  20. Nathan Baker was MOTM for me and he was playing for Bristol
  21. Dear Randy, Back in 2006, a 'nagging sense of inevitability' forced me to accept that you were the only person to take ownership of our club. Having had extensive experience of working for American Corporations/Billionaires I had severe doubts and frankly did not like your tactics when you were in the process of buying the club. Over the course of several months I met with various individuals and groups who wished to buy Aston Villa but the Lerner bandwagon was unstoppable. Behind the scenes your PR machine rubbished the alternative bids, and persuaded various high profile fans that you and your money were the next Villa 'Revolution'. Any dissent or alternatives were dismissed. Those that championed 'Ellis Out' or published books were 'on board' and the debate was over. At the time i was personally mocked and criticised for backing other horses. Recently when I proposed "Out the Door on 74" v Everton, I am told that your lackey Steve Hollis met with some of said 'high profile' fans and gave them the inside track. It wasn't therefore unsurprising that some of the former high profile Villa protestors were critical of OTDO74. One made a distinct point of stating online that he would be staying for the full 90 minutes. Another refused to back OTDO74, said it was premature and that we should wait till the end of the season. I don't doubt said individuals love for the Villa but I do think their heads were turned. Guess what Randy? Despite all your money, influence, power etc etc ultimately it counted for **** all. I doubt those that have backed you for the last ten years have been 'romantically nourished' either. They backed the wrong horse! Mike McKenna
  22. I am guessing if there is "negotiations" going on this will all happen fairly quickly. As long as Lerner is in charge, many will not renew their STs and the life of the club 'the fans' are draining away. I will struggle to renew as long as Lerner is here, but will renew immediately if we are taken over. IF we are taken over will there be a big bounce in support and will the many who have boycotted the club return?
  23. ".....a stinging rebuke to Bernstein and King" Doesn't surprise me in the least. As I posted several months ago a couple of Villa fans who met him some years ago in his suite at Browns game witnessed Lerner vent his spleen about Levy with a foul mouthed rant. He really is a nasty bit of work!
  24. Nothing would surprise me at the moment!
