  1. I agree that both of them have to start. This isnt a Lampard/Gerrard scenario, both can play together. Palace at home next is the perfect game to do it in as well. They will be there for the taking.
  2. It's frustrating but that's what happens against top sides. Ings could have had a hat-trick. Should have. Mane takes his chance beautifully because he's a world class player. We didnt, that's why we lost. We have only ourselves to blame.
  3. There is one potentially world class player we could sign this summer in all likelihood. That is Coutinho. To not take that chance is insanity, total insanity. If he doesnt produce the goods then ok but we absolutely have to take that chance. Or you know, we spend big on some overpriced British player. Its worked out so well for us in the past.
  4. What a load of rubbish. The best teams are hard to beat, that's why they are the best teams. We've done well in games against them for the most part, only losing a by a goal in a few of them. The only thing pathetic about tonight is that comment.
  5. Inter, Liverpool Bayern Munich and Barcelona player with 60 caps for Brazil isnt as good as someone who's had two seasons of top flight football? Behave yourself.
  6. He was fine tonight. Some lovely touches and moves. Some days that shot flies in too.
  7. At least with Watkins, he contributes in other ways to a game. Danny Ings' sole job is to score goals and he's supposed to be a proven finisher. So to miss both those one on ones and that header so badly is inexcusable. Of course he buries the chance perfectly when offside to rub it in. Strikers that dont take chances, especially against the best teams, cost you games. Ings and Watkins have done so all season and both need to be replaced.
  8. Saved by the bell of half-time there. Liverpool were inevitably going to score.
  9. This fat **** of a referee is struggling to keep up with the play. No wonder he's missing everything.
  10. I have to be negative but games like this when we dont take chances are when we get turned over. Chances without goals mean nothing, as Spurs taught us.
  11. A free header, no keeper to beat, 10 yards out. That is unforgivable to miss that. Shocking from Ings.
  12. CVByrne proves that a broken clock is right twice a day. Some Villa fans are still stuck in the 90s when you played your “best” team every match and didn’t adapt to who you’re playing and where. “But we won the league in 1981 using 13 players.” Times have changed lads, sorry to break it to you.
  13. Glad to see Coutinho back. I expect him to have a game tonight. Something of a point to prove and could also deny his previous club the title.
  14. I dont watch this rubbish but 13 goals in 22 games? That's atrocious
  15. No, they dont. The only time its ever mentioned was back in the day when 40pts was seen as the catch all safety total. Nowadays of course its usually a lot lower so doesnt mean anything. The other time was when Man City were chasing after 100 points because its a nice round number and the milestone had never been reached before. Outside of that, no-one gives a shit and why would they? Everyone remembers we finished 2nd in 1992-93 or 4th in 1995-96. Only the biggest stats geeks could tell you what points totals we had those seasons. Anyway, this is a tedious subject. You're just wrong, stop dragging it out.
  16. You can attempt to laugh it off but he's dead right. No-one ever talks about point totals, ever. You make a ridiculous comment and are refusing to backpedal your way out of it. Quit while you're behind.
  17. Our new manager took hold of the team when they were 17th and had lost 5 in a row, he also hasnt had a proper transfer window. It must be confusing for the anti-Gerrard crowd because he's done a better job in spite of those two snags.
  18. So we're 11th in the table, this despite the horrendous start that Dean Smith left. Which is the same position the great Dean Smith finished last season. This must be really confusing for the anti-Gerrard crowd
  19. Anyone got that "since Gerrard took over" PL table handy? It should show up the naysayers.
  20. Basically we've done today what others have done to us so many times this season. It's a testament to just how all that matters is the score considering some of the comments waxing lyrical about how we're playing.
  21. I'd carry him to West Ham for a decent fee. Sell sell sell.
  22. As I've said repeatedly, he will be judged on next season. Hopefully we have a productive summer and start strongly. When we reach the World Cup break next season there will be no excuses for where we are or arent in the table. This is still someone else's team and we it may not be possible for Gerrard to play the way/shape he wants with this personnel. If there is no improvement up until then then yes it may be time for a change but I really think we will be a surprise package next season and start well and finish comfortably top half. I also think he will make some very shrewd signings and wouldnt be surprised if some are already wrapped up.
