  1. I have a feeling that our new manager is currently a free agent.

I don’t want it to be, but I think it’s Henry or Carvalho.

Problem with Carvalho is that he sets his teams up to defend not attack. The football was incredibly boring at Sheffield Wednesday which was why he got sacked.

Can anyone explain why Fonseca is supposed to be so good? Guessing not many here watch the league games! Presumably he’s done well in the CL?

    Why is he so good..

    - Shakhtar are one of the most attractive teams to watch in the UCL

    - Tactically he is very flexible

    - He has been linked with top European clubs

    - Considered one of Europe's top young coaches

A more detailed explanation is below.

As opposed to the guy who gauranteed success due to getting promoted four times previously.

Its not always the pedigree, it’s getting the right fit (Nuno?)

    I didn't mention pedigree.

I think that he is overrated.

So in your opinion, what does Dean Smith actually do at Brentford?

I think that he selects the team,  he monitors training and motivates his players and keeps the morale up.

After a match probably has a meeting with his staff, reviews data and analytics and they all decide on the best course of action for the next game.

They would still TRY to play the same way according to the vision of the sporting directors, the head coaches job is to train the players so they actually CAN play that way.

Just the sort of thing we need right? Seeing as we've totally cleared out all teh football side of the club I'd imagine the sporting director/DOF position would be wanting to implement a "Villa way" just as Brentford have the "Brentford way". I'd imagine a talented young head coach would fit right in.

Your right the head coaches would train the players so that they can play to that style ... BUT the biggest point is that their coaches are not going to leave with Dean Smith.

Brentford have a continuity process, Dean Smith is disposable and one of Brentford's assistant coaches would be promoted as head coach.

Which is why i am skeptical of Dean Smith.

Dean Smith would not get Villa promoted.

People need to stop with this, he's the head coach, Brentford are set up like a modern club, they make the big decisions as a group, DOF, head coach, head scout and CEO. If Smith comes here, we are looking for a DOF, we've just sacked all the coaching staff and the scouts, I'd say that smacks of creating a modern structure, exactly the type of structure Smith is in and doing so well with on limited resources.

The way Brentford play and recruit is not down to DS.

    They have two DOFs.

    A technical director.

He has an individual development coach, analysis team and two assistant head coaches..

He has not created a vision for Brentford he is part of it.

Yes Dean Smith brings something unique to his job otherwise he would not be their head coach but many fans reasoning to why DS should be appointed are factors that he is not responsible for.

If DS left Brentford, they would still play the same way and recruit the same way.

  7. I also think that our owners are envious of wolves and their methods that got them promoted.

I cannot see our next manager being from the same league.

I also cannot see them appointing someone fairly new into management.

They are going to try to entice a high quality manager to come here with the help of Jorge Mendes.

  8. It;s going to be a very tough job for whoever is becomes our manager.

    Our defence is fractured.

If we bring in a possession based manager we may struggle earlier on because we don't really have defenders that can play from the back.

We have players suited to different styles of football in one squad thanks to Bruce.

    Looking like another rebuilding process.

I went for Smith, villan, we're going to set up a structure that suits him. Great coach.

Dean Smith is not a great coach

He has 20 other coaches and is part of a system.

If we bring in Dean Smith he will fail miserably .

  10. Arteta would be an amazing appointment.

    But lets remember;

We need a tactician who has a philosophy and has the right coaching team to help implement that.

The new manager will not be able to sign any new players until Jan so he has to be able to bring the most out of our current crop of players.

I am nervous and excited and I don't think we will appoint a manager until after the Millwall game.

  11. Happy that my earlier prediction didn't go through..

    Without Chester..

Millwall are going to batter us physically on Saturday.

Bruce will not be next week..

  12. I think that Bruce will win the next two games,

He will stay and will be given a big vote of confidence over the international break and he will remain smug.

He will sign James Collins on a Samba deal.

I think that we will reach bad form again,  and then sack him however it will be too late to salvage the season.

Next summer we will sell Grealish and other players due to FFP pressure and BIG cuts will be made and..

Well I don't even want to think about it..

    Point is..

All this can be avoided if he is sacked regardless if we win or not.

  13. As I have said months ago.

Dean Smith is part of an infrastructure, i wouldn't be surprised if his  training schedule is actually prepared for him by other staff.

He is wonderful for Brentford but he will not work here especially midway through a season.

Honestly, I can see someone like Claudio Ranieri arriving on a short term deal to give us that push for promotion.

  14. If we had lost he would have been gone.

After this result i am not so sure.

Those players out there tonight were not playing for him.

I'm just frustrated, it has one of the most depressing nights of football I have experienced in recent memory.

    I really want him gone.

  15. Wagner

Interesting choice. He would require as much time as he needed at Huddersfield.

He is a good coach but I think the style that we are seeking is not the same style as Wagner.

He like to play high pressing football but he also likes to play on the counter a lot.

His attacking play is fast and direct.

I don't think that he organises his teams well defensively, they score very little and concede a lot.

They got promoted on a -2 goal difference, they conceded more goals than they scored in 16/17.

Wagner qualities is getting the most out of the team mentally, they play for him and they work very hard.

Personally I don't think that he will join but I also do not think he is the answer.

I would like to think that this technical director that we may already be in talks with may have touted a few suggestions already.
